lol. I’m the OP and like to think of myself as a nice guy. I’ve just run into that Turd Furgenson before and I’m convinced he comes on here just to argue “the other side” just for his own entertainment. I enjoy contributing and learning from you guys. I’ve learned so much here.

Thanks Borracho. I’m the OP. Yeah wasn’t trying to start anything or force people to do it. I was simply reminding people it’s there. I’ve worked on cars for 40 years and remember back when a tune up meant plugs, pcv valve, set timing and a new air filter. I came here from owning a Honda Pilot and I would change mine every 30k. Hondas are plastic and there would be a very good chance it would break in the head from it becoming brittle. Then you had a nightmare getting it out. I’ll probably change my 4R pcv every 80k

No sweat, glad to help. You and others helped me. Users are almost all inherently good on this forum, often going above and beyond to help ppl.

So I used different varieties of WD40 only, on the NSS. Get someone (who doesn’t want to kill you) to sit in driver’s seat and shift gears while you’re under there spraying. And run of the mill kleen-flo white lithium grease spray on linkage (and white grease my gear shifter inner mechanism, but that’s another thread and takes commitment!)

Great idea to have someone go through the gears while I spray. I’ll do it tomorrow

It was great. Just some very fine stuff around the throttle blade edge that wiped away easily. And that's 16 years with a sacrilegious K&N drop-in I put in a week after driving it home from the dealer.

When I was in high school, my 70 Mustang fastback had to have its PCV changed like every 7k. Otherwise you had an oil leak, so to me this is just something I do (though obviously not at 7k with my 4Runner). Of course, that 302 was a whole lot easier to work on than the 1GRFE, even if the 1GR is user friendly for the most part.

Changing the PCV screen/valve on a Fox 302 is a pain. Its tucked down behind the intake manifold and the firewall with little room for your hands because theres so many other wires and hoses running behind there as well. The 4runner PCV looks like a 2 minute job.

Nah, on the 1970 302 it was reachable right at the top near the (driver side?) valve cover. Super easy, though didn't realize what issues it could cause if it got clogged (which mine always did). I definitely have it on my maintenance list for my 4Runner though way down the road.

Off topic, but PCV systems become much more important in supercharged applications, like my Fox is... so it definitely is something i keep an eye on regularly.

Not apples to oranges, But I changed the PCV on my Grand National every 20-25k back in the day.

I should clarify, "forced inducted" setups... not just supercharged.
