    Today I began the process of retrofitting a JBL sub-box into my 2005 SR5. Here my build link 4Ruiner's Build 2005 v6 SR5 | Toyota 4Runner Forum [4Runners.com]
I was able to obtain a JBL box with stock amp and subwoofer from a wrecked 2007 for $50
The goal is to keep this as stock as possible and to retain as much space as possible. The amplifier is a Pioneer Riot 2 channel mini amp. The sub is a Scar 8in dual voice shallow mount subwoofer. In order to get the Scar subwoofer to fit, I had to trim down some of the plastic grid within the JBL box.
I still have to run the wires to the aftermarket head unit.

Is the area that the amp is screwed to hallow? Just asking cuz I think that sub can use the breathing room.

I'd be curious to figure out the air space it provides for the sub just to see if it's enough to justify a port. That would be sweet, probably not necessary if you don't push it to it's limits though. Either way, looks clean, well done sir. I had a skar vxf 12" in my interceptor, built a sealed box for it. It worked for a long time till I pushed it too hard for it's lack of breathing room and separated the voice coil. Luckily the guys at skar are awesome and replaced the sub. I had a ported box built for the new one and it sounded way more clean. I didn't have to push it as hard to receive the same volume.

Interesting, yeah I am just going to see what I can do with it. I have seen others on here replacing the factory sub with shallow mount kickers and pioneers. I figured I would give Scar a try since the sub was literally half the cost of the kicker/pioneer subs. Its more or less just there for a little bump. I am past my days of incredibly loud systems lol.

Replaced my front axle seal correctly the second time. If anyone out there decides to do this on your own front axle just remember the seal has to fit flush with the housing. It can be set in too deep and leak.

All I get is this little box?!
Did you use the axle to seat it? Or just made sure to not tap it in too far this time?

No, I just used a cylinder that was the correct size to seat the seal, I managed to seat it flush with the cylinder.

After a long weekend of traveling, had some time last night installing the Wilco Hitchgate drop.

My spare tire’s mechanism wire underneath frayed/ seized and I never got around to installing the updated chain version so this will do! :D

Right on! I'm being brave and just not bringing a spare...BUT, it's mostly a very capable highway road runner! I highly suggest looking at adding one of these to your rear hitch carrier...it'll be dual purpose, a theft deterrant and an anti-rattle device...Game changer if you have found it might rattle a smidge while driving down the road...and very inexpensive!

I appreciate the great suggestion, now I'll stop by after work to pick one up.
No rattling but I wouldn't mind the extra "security" and secureness if there is any wobble I missed.

Awesome to hear!! I like how it makes it feel more secure and rigid! Nice upgrade to the spare!

AI says it won’t work b/c of component redesigns, but I’m curious to see if anyone responds. If there’s one thing I’ve learned about it, sometimes AI translates to BS.

I agree, your rig was one of the first I saw posted online with skinnies so thank you for that!

I'm looking at wheel spacers next and maybe a mounting plate for a Rotopax between the hatch and carrier.

After considerable effort, I finally broke my transmission fill plug loose so I can finally get my drain and fill done tomorrow. That was the good news. The bad news was what I noticed on the inside side wall of the front passenger tire as I was crawling out from under the truck.
