1999 4 Runner running hot

    I replace the therostat about 6 months ago. The old girl is still running hot. I used a bubble tool and was able to check water while engine was running and it turned yellow which I think means head gaskets. So, I took both heads off and I noticed one had a different head gasket, like newer than the other. I don't see any cracks but not sure. I need some wisdom on this matter. It has 188,000 miles on it. I am thinking now maybe I should not have pulled the heads.
    The freeze plugs in the block where the intake is do not really look bad.

    Tacoma whip, 99 console box, tru trac., steering wheel, PWMS and HVAC control out of a 99.
    The 1GR in your truck is known for cylinder head gasket leaks on bank 2, usually cylinder 6, always at about 200k miles. Don't fret, it's normally just the gasket, have yet to see a warped head, nor block issues. As long as your head isn't warped, its just a matter of removing the gasket, cleaning thoroughly, and reassembling. I Don't know a particular reason why it's usually bank 2, specifically cylinder 6, at about 200k miles it just happens to some.
