Pretty picky observation here but my wipers (blades?) are quite noisy seems to be specially when changing direction from top position. '18 model anyone else notice this and if you've swapped out your blades did they quiet down? What brands do you suggest?

I don't notice any noise but I usually have the radio up loud. I will try and remember to listen next time it rains....As far as replacement blades go, It's easy to replace the factory rubber on the blades with factory inserts. This is what the dealer will do. The factory inserts are very durable and it only costs about $23 for the factory rubber inserts.

Yeah I replace with OEM inserts on my Honda but thought exact replacements on the Runner may sound the same. I've even had passengers commenting that their rather loud. The wiper "blade" or frame on the Toyota is shaped like Honda and their supposed to press harder on the windshield the faster you drive, just the way the force of the wind catches them. Maybe I'll try a totally different frame and all and see what I think.

I noticed the sound, too. And i think its because it has a strong motor? These t4r blades whip with so much more force than they did in my 2018 Tacoma. Might be nice for clearing snow.

Question -- on the drivers side, I used to use a 1" shorter blade than spec on my Tacoma's. I felt it made a cleaner swipe on the ends of the Drivers side blade. So I'd use two 21" blades instead of 22"(d) 21"(p).

I always use icons. If I went 1" shorter on drivers side with the icons on the t4r, do you think it'd be too short on the top or bottom?

Hmmm really not sure just try to picture the "swipe" area that much shorter may be ok as long as the edge isn't in your line of view driving. I always thought (assumed) the noise was the blades some folks thinking it's the motor???

When I first got my '18 rig, the wipers we're really noisy. Eventually it stopped squeaking. If it doesn't stop being noisy just buy the wiper blades to your toyota dealer, its cheaper but you just have to install it on. And just clean your blades when you fill up your tank. I live in seattle so i figured that noisy wipers right away

if your not using silicone your doing it wrong. IMHO. they last longer and swipe cleaner. cant say anything about the noise but on my '03 and '98 they are silent.

check out PIAA. I have a hard time finding another brand that makes silicone blades.

If you are still under warranty just bring it up to the dealer and see what they say.
