18 T4R Gas gauge and on board computer?

Hello everyone
when i fill up the fuel tank my on board computer only shows 350 to 375 miles for distance i knew we have 23 gallon fuel tank like the 4th Gen 4R. and i would get distance of 400 to 425 on the on board computer on my old 4R, what is going on any body have any info on this. is there a rest

thanks i did that before i fuel up and did not make any difference

 

You can stick a LOT more fuel in after the nozzle clicks full. I cram the shit outta mine after the nozzle does the first click "stop", a lot more. ,.. and have yet to ever see any 400 mile range on the screen.
Mid 300s most I've ever seen. It will base it off what your averaging. Real time, your range will be adjusted by fuel at hand, and what your averaging at the time.

Yeah "topping off" can wreck/flood some kind of filter in the fuel tank. I think the filter that filters vapors coming out of the tank or something. Some EPA emissions thing. Whatever it is, you don't wanna wreck it by topping off.

 

You can "Reset" your dist calculator by pressing and holding the mode button on your steering wheel. Also, by cramming fuel into your tank, you can flood the evaporative charcoal canister. It is designed to absorb excess fuel vapors from the fuel tank. Not a cheap repair. Never keep "topping off" your tank after the filler nozel clicks off..

 

While the meme was very convincing, do you have any actual data to support your cynicism? I'm genuinely curious, since I have heard from countless sources that topping off modern gas tanks is a very bad idea.

I honestly haven’t looked again, haven’t stopped this week. But I will be going out to look shortly now. First thing is to change settings so I stop getting emails alerts to my stuff here haha

 

375 miles is typical on a 5th gen ..same on my 2016 with all stock tires etc..

when to cold temps hit it does drop down .. lower MPG in 35F and lower temp..

 

from what i read on the forums
the on board Computer takes your driving average MPG and calculates an estimates of what you would get on a tank full of gas per your driving habits but I can tell you its not so accurate

if you drive in the city and speed is variable then not accurate as the computer will indicate different miles to require fuel.

so you on a trip, hywy speed same the whole trip , then it is pretty accurate.. I have this work good when I do my 1700 mile drives to florida.
