Thanks for the response. I should have said I’m looking for something with the least amount of contrast to my silver. Doesn’t have to be perfect, but it does have to be something with less contrast to my silver than matte black, for me!

Sorry to everyone with custom orders in. Holidays and a new puppy in our house have stalled every second of my free time. I am getting to them but a lot slower going than typical.

No updates on a topo supplier yet. Negotiation fell through with a local supplier asking for a $5k minimum order. I can order a sheet from my old supplier but the scoop decal would be $120 plus shipping. (The sheet itself my cost is $118 before I cut it etc). This is why I have chosen to not even offer them at this time. I am still working on it but my main hurdles are: 1) local suppliers that have the machines to put out a product I'm willing to put my name on. 2) minimum orders when this is just something I do on the side. 3) vendors that are willing to use my artwork instead of bill me to design and use their own.
A lot of vendors just turn me away because I won't do enough volume and it's not worth their effort. Machine set up and material forming/fusing alone comes with a service fee with most vendors I have talked to. I'm still working on it but it is more of an issue than I thought.

 

Hi Chris. Does that mean you are not offering the topo scoop decals at this point? or just topo scoop decals from your available stock? Just curious.

 

I still don't have a material supplier right now. I am still working to set up bulk materials from local vendors that I can put my name on at an "affordable" price. If I went with my old vendor, each topo scoop would be $97 (my cost) so I would sell them here at $100 each which I am not comfortable/willing to do. I have a local vendor right now that I am talking with and we are working on pricing etc. I am trying to also have them use my artwork so I doing have to pay their $500 design fee. I am confident I will have some in the next month or so.

Any updates on matte black with red topo? I'd like that for the hood scoop and possibly other interior designs you have available

 

Nothing yet... Still having trouble getting a supplier that doesn't want a huge initial order, set up fees etc. still in the works though! I am also testing another vinyl to open up other possibilities but I want to make sure it is good quality before selling it. I have had a 6"x6" tester square on the top of our 4Runner for 8 or so months to make sure there are no issues with it fading etc.

Not yet. The company I was talking to is now an empty building. I've got a lot going on with work/life etc so I have not been able to go meet with any new businesses. I am amazed how difficult it has been. My old provider reached out to try to get my business back but they did not budge on their new inflated rates. I offered to pay them a one-time design fee that they could keep on file for each color I order but they said no. I do have some calls to some other businesses but only 50% or less call back.

 

Sorry for the difficulty. Are you doing the non-topo at all any more, or are these also dependent on the new supplier?

 

I have rolls of non-topo. Plenty of Matte black and Matte white in stock.

 

pm'd chris on sunday. got the decals today (wednesday). installation couldn't be easier.

The matte black are $30 plus $5 shipping. The "4RUNNER " comes with the hood decal.

Not having good luck with mine. 1st one from Etsy I could not get on without it having lines/runs. 2nd one from here I took to a local vinyl shop. They were unable to install it because it was too thin and not cut correctly for the curve on the side of the hood scoop. They also said the vinyl choice was 'ok, not great' for an auto decal. Two in the trash at this point. I've given up

 

Same, two in the trash. Bought some Avery vynel and some knifeless tape from jeffs and it worked awsome.

 

I want to thank Chris for his responsiveness with my inquiry and shipping. I got this put on in about 10 minutes from start to finish. i thoroughly soaked the hood and both sides of the vinyl overlay with water with a few drops of baby shampoo before application. I had just a few small "fingers" on either side that came out easily with heat gun.
