I picked up my TRD ORP from the dealer a few days ago. The last two days I've been changing some parts and I think it's already looking like what I had in mind.

So, I had to do a little fluff first and blacked out the steering wheel emblem and added some fake cf to math the factory console. Whew, time to take a break ;)

Next was some fun stuff. I did this alone in my not yet finished shop so no lift to make things a bit easier. No biggie, I cut my teeth doing this stuff as a kid in a gravel driveway anyway. Wow it was nice to work on a squeaky clean chassis!

Below are some of the parts that got me going:

-Eibach Pro-Truck Series 2 with the rear reservoirs.
    -Dobinsons UCA's.
-SRS Bronze wheels with Falken AT3 tires in 285/70/17.
    -TRD skid plate
    -TRD Pro roof rack
    -Cali Raised LED rock sliders
    -Morimoto XB headlights
    -Alpharex tail lights

    Parts yet to be installed:

    -Victory Blitz front aluminum bumper
    -Warn Evo 10-S
    -Heretic amber light bar
    -Heretic amber fog lights
    -Tire carrier
    -Sleeping platform
    -Awning

I'm set up with exactly 2.5" at both front corners and 1 1/4" at the rears. This leaves it at 1/4" higher in the rear. I may adjust the fronts down a 1/4".

I have zero rubbing but only a bit more that 1/4" clearance on the front body mounts. I'm going to wait another couple days for the springs to settle in and get the alignment. I'll see where I'm at then and decide if I need to chop the body mounts. I already have the bmc plates if I do the chop.

I've driven it about 30 miles and the suspension is exactly what I was going for. Not nearly as stiff as many lifts out there but def a bit firmer than stock and it soaks up all the bumps I encountered far better than stock.

Anyway, I'll start off with the before and after pics and add some more for good measure. I think I managed to make it more rugged and capable. :)

I've got a few bits yet to come, but I'm really looking forward to my Magnuson supercharger arriving in about a week and a half. I'll install that and then do the OTT tune to get everything dialed in just right :)

    Looks good.
Understand not many miles yet but how do you like feel of those tires? The Falken is one i've been thinking about now that my BFG ko2s wore out. Which version of tire is that (Passenger, LT load C, or LT load E)?

Welcome! 4R looks great so far. I have that same lift still in the box, one of these days I'll get around to installing it. Nice to hear another member say it rides so well.

I can tell you they are quiet even before I get the alignment done this Wednesday. Everything else I've only read but I've heard nothing but good things.

I really love the ride. It soaks up bumps (on road only so far) and isn't at all harsh. The handling is improved over stock so I think it's a win/win. You're going to like it.....post when you do the install!

Nice build! Id love to replace my regular eibach shocks for these with the reservoirs, I hear they ride a bit better.

Maybe you're right. I read from people that they both ride the same (Pro-Truck) but the resevoirs sustain that nice ride longer with extended cycles because of the reservoirs.

Just a couple real small things today. I installed the Ellis shifter knob and Transfer case knob. Joel is a really cool guy and he laser engraved the TRD supercharged on mine. Also added a subtle decal above the glove box.

Soon the Morimoto XB headlights and Alpharex Luxx Black tail lights will arrive. Aside from some other misc farkels, the supercharger is the main thing I can't wait to install. Less than two weeks to go on that :) I keep forgetting, I still have to tear apart almost the whole interior to install the JL Stealthbox, LCQ-1 line convertor/crossover, Rockford Fosgate 5 channel amp and the speakers......and the Heads up display unit. Gonna be busy for a while.

I've got a bit distracted while I wait on the last of the parts to arrive. The Warn Evo 10-S is here but I'm still waiting on the Heretic amber fog lights, lightbar and Victory Blitz aluminum bumper. Updates are soon to follow. I am super pleased with the Magnuson.

One of the distractions arrives around lunchtime today :)

So I got the stereo installed. I wanted to keep the 4runner stock looking (for the most part) as far as the stereo goes.

I used a Audiocontrol LCQ-1 to clean up the signal from the factory head unit and provide correct line out voltage. It also corrects the units bass attenuation as the volume is increased.

Focal component 6x9's are in the front door and Focal are also in the rear passenger doors. The speakers and sub are powered by a 5 channel Rockfor Fosgate amp which is mounted under the passenger seat along with the LCQ-1.

I tore apart most of the interior to get a JL Audio Stealthbox with the 10" TW-3 subwoofer installed.

I'm very pleased with the install and realized it's been a while since I installed a system. The end result was worth it for me though and is light years better than factory.

Got the windows tinted as well. 30% on the fronts and added 20% on the passenger windows and rear window.Sub 1 Medium.jpg Sub 2 Medium.jpg Window tine.jpg

And a couple more showing the tint:

The seller isn't 100% on that. It's likely a 1950-1953 vintage. I want to find a belly cultivator for it. While I will care for it and keep it in the barn, I plan to actually use it as intended.

Next up was my favorite part of the build.....the Magnuson Supercharger! I spent the better part of two days doing the install. I swear I spent more time looking for tools that were just in my hands than doing the actual install. The supplied direction from Magnuson are amazing. There are like 4 steps on the 80 somet6hinmg pages that are really fun doing the actual supercharger install. The rest of the install is just tedious. It's actually a very easy install if you're the person that should be doing this. If you're questioning if you're able....have an installer do it. Honestly, the only frustrating part for me was getting to tune to install. Had I realized early on my internet connection was poor I could have avoided any issues altogether. I spent two days doing the install but had issues getting the tune to install. I had to wait through the weekend to hear back from Magnuson. I ended up realizing the internet connection out in my shop was not perfect. As soon as I got a stable connection the flash went perfectly.

After the tune completed, there were zero codes whatsoever. Easy Peezy (with good internet). I followed all the Magnuson post install directions. Started the engine letting it warm up to check for any leaks or other disturbances. There were none and I let it fully cool down. Next it was time to warm it up and go for a test drive with part throttle. Cool, a few times I got to hear a faint blower whine. The post drive and cool down revealed no leaks, no sounds out of the ordinary and nothing abnormal observed. After it was completely cooled down again I took it out for a more spirited test drive and once again it performed flawlessly. This time a bit more RPM and a bit more blower whine, still pretty subtle. If you're listening to music you likely wouldn't hear it.

I've now got 1,600 miles on the new truck with 1,200 of those miles with the supercharger. I've had zero problems and I'm loving the transformation. Nothing abrupt whatsoever. The power comes on like it was installed at the factory and build the more/longer you press the throttle. Like others have said who have installed this "it's not a recacar with the Magnuson" but I will say it's still a night and day difference. I also added the Banks Pedal Monster. I chose this over the Pedal Commander for a couple reasons. While it's the most common in use, I have become aware of too many issues people have had either providing acceleration when no input was given or other malfunctions. Again, most people have no issues but I didn't want to take the risk. The second concern was the commander boosts throttle input in forward and reverse which I didn't want. The Banks does not boost the throttle in reverse. This really changes the game when paired with the supercharger.

I don't think I'll be using more than the factory 270hp very often. However, I will be using the supercharger pretty frequently. What I see (and feel) happening is the blower is letting me make use of the available power much lower in the RPM range where it's need most. This is what I'm referring to as being a night and day difference. Driving on a country 55 mph road and the car in front is doing 50, no problem. Press the accelerator down about 70% it downshifts and immediately propels you past in just a few seconds in a way a stock 4Runner could only dream of. It's the same on the Highway at 75 weather you just want to ease past or need to fly by for some reason. I took the salesman for a ride who is someone who wants to get into the exploring/overlanding thing, and his smile matched mine when he saw the difference.

Mileage? Well, I did a 500 mile round trip to my Mom's house and got 16.8 doing 79mph. I suspect with so few miles on the engine that will improve a bit. I did do 3-4 spirited passes each way. If I lower the speed a bit, just like stock, the mileage improves as well.

I'm really happy with the install and the results. It feels like it could have/should have been installed at the factory. Once you put your foot in it you realize how much it's changed the power output and even loses most of the gear hunting. When it does downshift on a hill it quickly reacts and keeps you at your set speed nor does it linger in the lower gear nearly as long.

In the next few day I'll try to shoot a couple videos and link them here. I'm not a vlogger/video guy so please don't expect a polished production.

@Rob41 what type of HP do you believe you are getting after the supercharger install. Ive been contemplating trading in for a v8 but then someone mentioned putting a supercharger on there.. i love my 4runner so this was great to hear. I think this would solve my need for power/acceleration.
Ive got a SB cold air intake system and a pedal commander on there and that just doesn't do it for me.

Hey 4RunnerCub, I haven't put it on a dyno but it's likely around the 340 neighborhood. More importantly, the HP and Torque roll in at much lower RPM where it's most needed and usable. The combination of the supercharger and pedal commander (Banks Power Monster in my case) is amazing.

Thought I'd just add a brief update. I installed the Supercharger at about 400 miles on the new 2023 4Runner and now have 4k miles on it. I'm exceedingly pleased with the Magnuson and have had zero issues with it, any of the other mods I did, or with the 4Runner itself.

Here's a couple videos I just did on the back of my property. I'm neither a hardcore off-roader or videographer in any way so please excuse the poor quality. The quad trail is steeper than it appears....and seems little more than a speed bump to the 4Runner :)

Very nice Rob - love the sound of the supercharger whine in your videos. If it wasn't so silly expensive i would do it ;)

Q: I saw in one of your youtubes you had a HUD speedo? Where did you get that?
