Correct, 45K treadwear per their website. Doubt I will have them long enough to exercise that warranty, haha!

I've heard great things about the AT3. IMO it's a more suitable choice given your intended use. The AT3's are lighter, 3PMSF rated, and will be less noisy on road.

Looks like 285/70R17s on -10 SCSs? And you were able to keep your mudflaps. I'm expecting a set of -10 F5s from SCS. And I'd like to do these Toyos in 285/70R17 also. I was expecting needing a BMC but it looks like you aren't having any clearances issues? Enough room for articulation with your set-up?

Looks like -10 F5s? Did you have to do a BMC to clear the 285/70R17 RT Trails? I've got an MGM too. And a set of -10 gunmetal F5s coming in at the end of the month. Wondering if I'll need to cut to fit the same tires.

I think you should be ok without bmc but maybe not. Some variation from truck to truck.
Was able to keep my mudflaps. I do have a bmc behind them because i originally had less lift (only 1") and a not so good alignment that put the tires closer to body mount. It did rub hard before bmc and alignment. Now I am at about 2" lift, my caster is near maxed to put the wheels as far forward as possible, and I pulled my mudflaps back toward body mount with zip ties. Sometimes tires scuff mudflaps if turning through a rough bump just right but flaps have room to give so not a big deal. I think alignment and zipties was biggest thing to help fight rub.

They are -38, but I got the BMC with -10 Ray 10s. Still needed it then. It all will come down to your alignment.

Another question for you. Were you able to fit a a full size SCS / RT Trail as your spare below? The RT Trail checks all the boxes but squeezing a full size spare below would be a dealbreaker as I don't have a carrier.

Is anyone storing a 285/70R17 Toyo RT Trail as a spare below? Specs-wise indicate they would fit but just wanted to make sure before buying a set as I don't run a carrier.

My spare is a BFG KO2 that i already had as an unused spare from another truck. 285/70-17 load E on SCS rim. It fits underneath. Clears all moving suspension parts ok. It is right up against back of trailer hitch. Had to cut down excess metal on a hitch insert that was sticking out when connected but 4Runner itself was not an issue.

Hey All, sorry just clarifying the question about spare fitment. Just asking about the RT Trail in the 285/70R17 specifically. I also have a BFG KO2 spare currently. That there comparison is also a good question. Anyone coming off a KO2 to a RT Trail. I'm guessing everyone loves the RT Trail and the new design better?

Do you guys with the RT Trail have any more experience with use in snow/ice/wet conditions?

I'm deciding between the AT3 or RT Trail. I've had the AT3 and was very happy with them, but now that I need new tires I have a chance to get the RT. I like the looks of the RT (not as important), and see it does very well in mud and dirt (what most of my driving will be).

My only concern is that they are not terrible on wet roads and snow/ice. I'll be moving in the next 1.5 years, but for the time being have to deal with a bit of rainy weather here.

I've been reading around about the RT's and found posts on other forums saying they did terrible on ice, and had poor wet traction. I also discovered that there is an older version of the RT so I'm not sure what reviews refer to the old vs new design.

    Yep.
Not the heaviest of all three, but enough to see how the tires performed. It was like they weren't there at all. I used the truck's 4WD HI in the snow and Ice, the worst of it and had no problem at all. The rain was like it wasn't even there. All on paved roads, most freshly chip-n-sealed last summer. Tire pressure 32 PSI all around. The roads were safed with lava rock, but only near intersections.

    Does that help?

The RT Trail is an amazing tire. Can’t go wrong with it. I’m running them on my 4R and my F150 and absolutely love them.

Wound up getting the RT Trails along w/ my F5s. Can’t wait to break them in in the San Juans next month. And yes I can confirm it in a 285/70R17 fits underneath as a spare. I just have to pull it tight to the hitch as it’s drawn up to better clear my KDSS sway bar. Going to be checking it regularly that it isn’t moving.

July 20-27th for us. It’ll be our first time there and from the countless YouTube videos I’ve watched betting it certainly won’t be the last. Looking forward to Imogene the most.

Don’t let the YouTubers clickbait drama deter you from doing any of the stuff out there. Black Bear is a cake walk as long as you’re paying attention. The rest of them are pretty easy and really scenic. I highly recommend Poughkeepsie Gulch.

Gotcha. If you have free time. Do Black Bear. It’s worth it and there’s gonna be plenty of people to link up with to run it.
