If I put a 3.4 in A 1995 4runner 4 wheel drive. Will the transmission from a newer 4runner be a straight swap as well? Say i find a 2005 and pull engine and transmission. Will it fit in the 1995?

First off, there's no 2005 running a 3.4. They stopped putting them on 4Runners in 2002 and Tacomas in 2004. As for the transmission, I can only speak to manuals, but the typical route is to keep your transmission because it bolts right up to the 3.4 and significantly decreases the work. I think this is true for both manual and auto, but the 2nd gen runs the fwd prop shaft on the right hand side and everything 3rd gen ran the prop shaft on the left side. This means it's generally not worth the hassle of swapping the transmission. Keep your transmission, swap the engine.

What about using the entire drivetrain from a 3rd gen to 2nd gen? I’ve got a full donor 96 that I would like to put in my 92
