Have been rehabing my 2006 4Runner. Any advice on redoing black painted metal logos on outside body?20240523_134137.jpg 20240523_134102.jpg

    An eraser
Get them from body shop supply stores or online. It’s called an eraser and goes on a drill. It will take that paint off those emblems

getting the paint or plastic dip out of the middle of the letters may not be so easy. Might be a good idea to find some replacement letters on eBay and use the fishing string trick and just remove the stockers and replace them with new.

Q-tip with alcohol may get the black paint off the hard to reach areas on the emblems. But yes either replace the emblems or clean them up and repaint. Unfortunately I looked but it looks like they don’t make black emblems or black overlays for the 4th gen’s.

Are you sure it’s paint and not PlastiDip? The latter can be peeled off.

No i was just saying, since you want to rehab your OEM emblems with fresh black paint, is there is no other option like just buying new emblems that are black, or placing an 'overlay' on top of your existing emblems for the 4th gen 4runners. They have tons of options for Tacomas and 5th Gen 4runners as far as emblems go.

Are you the original owner? If not, it sure looks like someone painted those emblems black.

We are not the original owners. We live in Hawaii, the weather here is tough on a vehicle and rapid rusting of metal. Recently had front and back bumpers, outside mirrors repainted and a new fuel door installed as the door hinge pin rusted through. Had a complete inside and out professional detailing done with wipe on ceramic coating. Replaced all head//tail/fog lights. Last is the exposed plastics and letters+emblems. It does not look like they are hand painted.
