Cargo trunk liner?

I really like my Husky cargo liner

 

Cargo shelf attached to molle side panels.

 

I don’t. Not sure if they have that as an option on this year’s model but I don’t remember seeing it on any of the listings, or on any that I saw in the lot.

Kept the Toyota cargo mat.

 

I recently bought Tuxmats for my 2024 Limited. These things fit better than OJ Simpson's glove, they cover more of the carpet than anything I know of, they look great, and they are very easy to take out and rinse off it you want to. I bought the floor mats for the front and rear floorboards, but not the trunk mat. I bought the Canvasback covers for the trunk area.

The price is higher than your typical Amazon imported stuff, but they are still less expensive than the Weathertech HP floor mats and they fit better and provide more coverage. I've got Weathertechs in my F150, and the Tuxmats are a step up from Weathertech in my opinion.

 

The irony....as I'm currently on the hunt for a legit solution to the rear cargo liner.

I have the Toyota OEM liner.....and it's frustrating. But so are 90% of the cargo liners out there for the 4Runner.

The problem is finding a liner that isn't constructed of harder plastic composite. Point being when items are placed on top of the majority of the liners out there....the items then slide around and bang up the back sides of the cargo area.

Weathertech is trash. As are some of the Husky, Lasfit....etc when it comes to the traction issue I'm trying to resolve. They also warp and ripple.

Again this isn't about the 3d scanned fit of the mats/liners.....its about having some sort of traction'd liner to prevent items from sliding around.

I also don't want to put in a universal DeeZee mat then cut it down to size. But the rubber material of DeeZee is ideal as a solution for this issue.

I'm considering taking sandpaper to the OEM Toyota liner to scuff up the mat for traction.

Who knew it would be so difficult to track down.

 

I definitely like that, and its advantages! But I guess everyone has to pick their poison, I am instead focusing on a leveling plywood, and doing a flat mattress setup of some kind. That sliding cargo must really come up big when you’re lugging a really heavy object into your cargo area.

 

Lol damn. It’s funny how varied opinions can be, I’ve come across comments from some people that’ll say something to the effect that a cut to size cardboard box was perfect and did the trick haha.

 

Perhaps I should edit the "trash" moniker.....but I will never understand the evolution of material decisions for floor mats and cargo liners that has forgone the feature of traction and "anti-sliding" and become a legit slipping hazard when stepping on it.

Maybe some are better than others...?

 

It seems like a manufactured 4Runner problem to me, honestly.

My friend's Outback and my Rav4 both have nice thick, flexible, and grippy rubber mats like you describe, that also cover the seat backs. I don't know why an arguably more premium vehicle has such crappy options.

Have you tried just adding some skateboard grip tape or something?

 

I've tried many along with floor mats until I installed lasfit last year and wished it was the first thing I tried...would've been my last lol.

 

Does anyone have experience with Lloyd's mats.....specifically the Northridge all-weather line?

Hopefully they are more of the rubber grippy type vs. hard and slick......

Thoughts, experiences ?

 

Would you say the LASFIT is a grippy mat vs. the Toyota OEM mats that are hard and slick?

 

Lloyd's is considered "the" mat to have in aftermarket Corvette mats. Not sure about their utility vehicle line though.

 

That looks like a nightmare to clean-lots of nooks and crannies for dirt to be trapped. I prefer vertical ridges running front to back so it can be wiped out easily.

 

Lasfit is grippy but I also love that it just fits. Especially the back row and it curves up and hugs the base of the seats a little to cover shoes. Cleaning is a breeze because you just remove and wash. If the OEM you're referring to is the carpet one, yea gets slick and hard to clean overtime.

 

Are there any cargo mats/trays that extend over the wheel well area?

 

I have Lloyds in my '84 Pickup (front) and '06 Land Cruiser (cargo). By comparison the WeatherTechs are... trash ;-)

 

Well it's been a few weeks now and consider me sold.....I finally found a solution for a grippy cargo mat in Lloyd's Northridge.

The material is awesome and the engineering/design of the notches/grooves prevents items from sliding all over. And the same notches/grooves prevent spilled items/liquids from sloshing moving all over the mat keeping it contained. AND....the mat doesn't move...as the nibs on the bottom keep it in place....what a novel concept?!

It's super easy to clean with a vacuum or spraying off with a hose.

I'm impressed enough as their floor mats might be the solution for me as well.....their business has been doing it a long time....all-based out of California.

They're also the preferred solution (albeit different style) for Jonathan Ward's Land Cruisers at ICON/TLC.
