Hello everyone, figured I'd just say hey. Recently picked up 95 4Runner 4WD and the 6 cylinder. It's in pretty good shape considering the age, a bit of rust on the rocker panels, but nothing that can't be fixed, no rust underneath which is nice. It only had 2 problems I noticed when I got it, the first being the front brakes. It's been a long time since I've seen rotors that bad. Went ahead and replaced them this week, inspected the bearings, repacked the grease, stops like a champ now. The other problem is the code 52 knock sensor which I plan on tearing into in the next week or so, I think this is why the guy sold it. I've been getting greasy for 20 years now but mostly Chevrolets and Nissans, this is my first Toyota and I've got to say, from an engineering perspective, I love with how this thing is built, minus the location of the knock sensor I suppose lol.

Well that's my story so far, looking forward to chatting with everyone in the future.

The 22RE was well known for getting detonation due to the timing and crappy low octane fuel. If you can run higher octane fuel sometimes you can fix it but otherwise the only real fix i know is to retard the timing. If i recall, by the book is 0degrees but it seems everyone runs at least 5 or 6 degrees BTDC
