2016 4Runner TRD pro rear lift gate won’t open

Hey y’all. I was walking to my car yesterday and I went to open the rear lift gate but I was unable to open it. I can hear the mechanism moving but it feels like it’s caught on something. I then watched some YouTube videos to try and help me open it from the inside. I took off the little hatch piece to get inside of the gate and get to the latch but even pushing the latch proved to be unsuccessful. Today I got the help of my dad to take off the entire plastic covering of the gate to see the latch. We can see it move and hear it work but it just feels like it’s caught on something. We then sprayed it with wd40 but that didn’t work. We also disconnected the battery and the ECUB fuse to no success. I am out of ideas to try and videos to watch. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
