Removing Ladder

Has anyone removed a ladder? I have a Bajarack ladder that was installed for a few years and I want to remove it. How much of a pain would it be to remove the double sided tape used for mounting? If I were to guess, it’s probably been on for at least 6 years.

Surprisingly it didn’t leave behind too much residue from the double sided tape. I don’t remember how easy or difficult it was to close the hatch prior to installing the ladder and stronger liftgate struts, but it seems excessively harder to close. Should I buy some aftermarket direct replacements to make it “easier”? I don’t have anything to compare it to so I’m not sure if it’ll be worth the difference.

I upgraded my struts and immediately noticed difference on force it takes to close. Might want to consider going back to OEM.
