I used it on my M3, but the product description mentions "Without the adapter installed the funnel fits Toyota and Lexus vehicles that use a threaded oil filler cap."

I don’t know who actually makes them, but I got one from MotivX and it works great. It screws right into the threaded oil fill hole and you can pour right from a 5 qt jug.

I have the MotivX as well, along with their oil filter tool. Both are worth the initial price.

I just got mine in the mail yesterday. As soon as my new filter housing gets here, it will get used.

I realize this was from a few months ago and for guys that haven't bought a funnel yet and buys toyota oil.

The toyota one quart bottle screws right on the fill port. Just careful with the first one then cut the bottle with a box cutter. 20220830_100551.jpg

    Thanks
I just checked Amazon and the funnel is out of stock and the oil filter wrench says it doesn't fit a 2024 4runner...why would it work on yours, but not a 2024?
    any ideas?

where did you get the metal oil filter canister?

Amazon takes a while to catch up on documenting compatibility with current year. It was the same when I my '23 came in this time last year.

$30 for an oil funnel? This looks like a classic case of the answer to a question nobody asked IMHO…..

    Same.

I ordered it on a recommendation in another thread. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks to be decent quality. It appears to be a knockoff of the MotivX funnel linked above.

I use this. The mouth is large enough that I just place an oil bottle in it upside down and while that is draining I maybe undo lugnuts on a tire, rinse and repeat 6 times. The thing I dont like is the o oring around the threaded part, I guess I overtorqued it and was struggling to get it off the oil filler neck. The neck being plastic I feared I might break it. Maybe next time I'll remove the o ring.

Do you use the drain hose to drain the cartridge or just unscrew the cartridge and dump it?

This will be my first time changing my oil on a vehicle with a cartridge filter...

I planned on just unscrewing the cartridge (while its full of oil) and dumping it in the pan...is this possible without dumping oil everyplace

I just uncrew the whole cartrdige. I was going to use the hose to draint it first, but I have seen reports draining doesn't help much with the mess as there is still some oil remaning. I guess I'll keep removing the cartridge without draining, deal with the mess. At least I wont have to replace the smaller o ring and torque the drain cap. Simpler.

I bought one of these for 99 cents probably 25 years ago. Still works and still accomplishes exactly the same task.

I used to use cheap funnels and still do for other fluids. I purchased this kit https://www.lislecorp.com/lubrication-and-tire-products/19912-multi-application-oil-funnel-set-14-pc on Amazon for about $50 2-3 years ago. It makes filling oil a breeze and works with all of my cars. It’s one of those tools that you live without until you use it and then realize how and why you’ve lived without it for so long.
