Lift point question

    I’m a newb with a 2016 SR5. I decided to change my own fluids. I’m uncertain but being led to believe there is a single central point where I can raise the front then place my jacks under the frame. Is this true? Is it the round bump I see on the skid plate? And, is the skid plate reinforced so I don’t have to remove it? (My thought is it doesn’t make sense to squeeze under to remove the plate so that you can then lift the 4R so you don’t have to squeeze under. But what do I know?). Thank you for your insights

    The skids are weak and you need to remove it for the change so don't use that. I lift from the frame rail with my floor jack when I need to but I have ramps for oil changes.

    1" cornfed level 255/75 yoko at trd replica wheels
    The skid plate has a brace in it so when you jack on that circle it's pushing up to a cross member.

    And I second what whippersnapper says. Ramps for oil changes make life easy.

    Thanks, I’m changing the diff fluids, every 90K whether it needs it or not:) , so I need level. I have 4 jack stands, but no ramps

    3X on the ramps. I use them for most work that doesn't require wheels off.

    If you're unsure of the central point, you can lift it up one side at a time by the frame. Just be careful to not go too high all at once.

    I have the RCI front skid, I use the center of that as my front lift point.

    Welcome.

    There is a single lift point in the front, on the skid plate. From there, you’ll use jack stands on the frame rails. Look at the diagram in your owners manual.

    For the rear, the differential is the single jack point and you would place jack stands under the axles. Again, reference your owners manual for the exact lift and jack stand points.

    And most important, make sure that everything is stable and lifted safely before getting under the car.

    Except this diagram is not in all 5th gen manuals. Not sure if at some point they reinforced the center skid to accommodate this or just added it to the manuals.
