If it's the black stuff from depot, the paint may chip. I had to respray mine with some epoxy and it's been holding up for over 4 years now.

Put some ppf on the upper grille for when my bug deflector shows up. Also put two strips on the bottom edge of the tailgate where I normally grab it

This Is the saddest of mods but it is legit when the wife and kid don't help you unload the skis... I made fun of a friend that bought it then my wife got it and I use it haha.

About a month ago I finally got my 2022 SR5 Premium registered and the first thing I did was replace all the interior courtesy lights with LEDs, like I did on my previous 2008 4Runner. I also wanted the roof rack rails to be black and found one locally. After installing the black rails, I had the 2 extra cross rails and decided to install them too. I kind of like the look for now.

I replaced most of the lights on my truck with Diode Dynamics LEDs (6000k, Cool White). They were pretty pricey for all 15 of the lights ($150~), but I wanted something higher quality than LEDs I've previously used. Replaced 4 doors, 2 rear hatch, 1 roof, 2 map lights (lower lumens version), 2 headrest mirror lights (lower lumens version), 2 license plate, and 2 puddle lights on mirrors. I hear the glovebox is a pain to get to and probably not worth it.

I was patient with the project and only got nervous with the puddle lights on the side mirrors, but took my time. Youtube helped me out and gave me confidence with that.

I am considering getting some higher lumens LED reverse lights to match the 6000k lights (maybe even 6000k LEDs to replace the stock LEDs on the 2024? not sure if that's worth it).

    ---
Up next this week is to install the Cali-Raised Cat shields that just arrived at my house this weekend.

This is a good improvement over stock. And cheap. Quality isn’t bad at all for 10 bucks.

Air compressors... Have 4 vehicles and only one that goes Offroad. The cheap compressors I own only have duty time of 5 minutes. I didn't think a twin motor was needed. I also didn't want to mess with an install, based on how long I typically own vehicles. Purchased the a portable CKMP12V2 from ARB. Duty time of 30 which will be fine to air up tires 10-15 psi.

About propeller shaft bolt torque, do you ever find that those start to work loose in between tightening?

Not yet. I only did it because it was on the 15k mile list. Not one of them budged an iota while I was torquing them.

BTW, it helps to be in 4WD to do the front ones. I suppose I could have wedged a bar in the U-joint instead, but that seemed like it could lead to unintended consequences.

I installed a FITCAMX dash camera and a cargo area mat from YITA Motor. The FITCAMX installed easily and looks OEM. The same for the cargo mat after I cut some slots for the hold-down rings.

I'm ditching my Garmin dash cam with a Dongar adapter and replacing it with the FitCamX...
The quality on the Garmin is horrible and the app interface is not great either.

Not looking forward to unistalling the dongar adapter... Should have bought a FitCam the first time.

The Garmin had okay quality, but the FitCam can record in 4k. One thing I would recommend, if you do record in 4k, upgrade the micro SD card immediately. It comes with a 64gig card, but I swapped mine out with a 256gig card.

A 5 min video in 4k is 881Mb. Depending on how much you drive each day, that 64gig card would get filled up fast. Sure, it over writes itself and deletes the oldest data first. But that could mean only 2 - 3 days worth of saved video.

I have videos show how great the quality is, if you want/need to see it before making a decision.

Nice, will do. And share away! But I already pulled the trigger on one. I had to remove the Garmin camera to do ceramic window tinting. Noticed Amazon had a used FitCamX listed for only $110 so I moved forward with it.

Uninstalling the Dongar adapter will be a pain in the butt... Hoping the quality upgrade is worth the effort.
