I know Cali Raised is a bigger name but Maiker has molle panels for half the price on Amazon.

Has anyone used one or both? How does the quality compare? Given these are just molle panels for inside the cargo area, is the extra cost of a more popular brand worth it?

I have the CaliRaised molle panels and they are pretty nice. Plus, I’m supporting a US based company where products are made in house.

I have maiker in mine and have no regrets. Solid hardware and they make no noise. Nobody will see them so save your money. I went with Rago for the outside and those look sharp. But yeah for the inside maiker is working fine for me 2 years later.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

I don't buy into name brands, much. I bought these Molle panels off Amazon and love 'em. They are sturdy as hell, and only cost $95.

They're actually down the road from where I live. I've driven past their shop thousands of times.

Make sure you get what you need out of them because as much as everyone uses the term, MOLLE doesn't have a standard for a rigid plate and spacing is different. Bags will be loose and the drilled holes will not always line up with some of them.

What was perfect with my Motobilt bed panel wasn't ok with the Victory window panel in the 4Runner. Had to drill my fire extinguisher bracket and the first aid bags I hang aren't really snug.

They're good quality as is everything else from Victory/JCR but the design sacrifices too much IMO. The triangular brackets toward the rear on others are a more stable design and I'm 90% sure I'll replace them with Rago at some point. I only bought them because you can buy a single side and the only reason I'd choose them over another brand is if you wanted the lower panel as well.

It was the first thing that I had ordered from them. I read a few positive reviews on the forums and decided to give them a chance. They took about 3 weeks before shipping out, but everything went smoothly.

You're thinking of Cali Raised Off Road. They are based in California. And you are correct.

The OP and others have mentioned Cali Raised LED. They are based in Ft. Worth Texas.

    These are two different companies.

Whatever you buy the accessories are not interchangeable so buy the window panels from a company you like that also pieces out the entire system (top shelf, mid shelf, etc) so that if you change your setup in a year or two and want more components you are not starting over again.

I started with cheap window panels from Amazon and then the very next year decided I wanted shelf’s as well an ended up getting new cali raised panels so I could add shelves.

the Chicom units on Amazon are cheap but pretty much all that is available are the window panels

This is a great point that people may not factor in. I'm about 98% sure I'll never need a shelf or anything else, other than the window panels. So I went the cheap route because of that. They are pretty damn good though and do exactly what I need & want them to do.

I'm shocked one hasn't sued the other given they're in the same space. I've seen both companies' parts on sites and assumed they were the same.

Alright, this post convinced me to go the pricier route. I initially thought I wouldn’t ever want shelves but the more I think about it, I don’t know how often I’ll really need all the room clear up to the ceiling. So I very well could want them at some point and would like to have the option.

    Also, screw China.

Wait a minute, though. Which guy is the pedo? Because I found a post saying they were both started by the same guy. A guy named Blake. Is he the one?

Looks like Jacob Mottram, the current President of CR Off-road is on Megan’s Law website for a conviction of possession of child porn. From what I gather, both companies were founded by a guy named Blake. It looks like they were all working together at some point and split off. Not sure of the reason for the split but I can make some guesses.

    Weird/bad situation all around.

We actually sleep in the 4runner entering from the second row doors and our feet go under the shelves. That lets us move less stuff to the front row when we set up for camp. As in, while we are driving we have the trifold mattress folded up toward the second row by one fold and items stored near the rear hatch. After getting the shelf we just pick that stuff up and set it on the mid level shelf instead of moving it to the front seats. (Stuff that we dont typically store on the roof). The top shelf (which is only about six inches from the roof) I use full time for storage. The mid shelf I take out from time to time just like I do the second row seat bottoms
