Most of us have dogs and a few have hunting dogs and even more have GSPs. A little dog humor a friend sent me on Facebook. Let's share Dog Humor. They're like wives: Ya gotta love 'em. ;-)

Years ago, US Fish and Wildlife, in honor of TR and his work with wildlife refuges, issued a commemorative teddy bear. It was dressed as Teddy Roosevelt, complete with a Rough Rider uniform, suspenders, and eyeglasses. We had our first GSP, Maggie, and lived in NorCal near Grey Lodge state refuge and the Colusa portion Sacramento NWR. I bought one secretly as my wife collected dolls. I also attached several medals for conservation work that Department of Interior had awarded me (Low level, region level awards). I came home and placed him on the bed pillows. Anita came home and .....nothing. I waited, she changed clothes and ......still nothing. I walked in and asked "Aren't you going to say something about your surprise?" She said "What surprise?" I told her what I had done and instantly we both yelled "MAGGIE!!!!" She had grabbed it and taken it under the bed. She was too big so her first half was under and her (tail-less) butt was sticking out in the air! Fortunately, only the suspenders (made of ribbon) were soggy.

Another time, we were at the ranch where we had a hunting lease and I guided part-time on wild hogs. We kept a bright orange Kong Ball in the trailer and it was the first thing she grabbed each trip. I looked out the window and watched Maggie chase a jack rabbit for over 50 yards with that darn ball in her mouth!!

 

Maggie would go up to Anita when she shot while dove hunting. After two shots (and misses) she would come sit by me!
