Hey you guys great videos! I enjoy how you go in detail about the products. Question for you - what size and model tire are you running? I watched the suspension video but i don’t think it was mentioned. Thanks!

Thanks for liking our stuff Justin! We really appreciate the kind words.
We're running Nitto Ridge Grapplers in 285 70 17 on stock TRD rims. They fit nicely although we do get a tiny bit of inner fender rub at full turn, especially in reverse for some odd reason. We're going to do a little trimming and "massaging" in a couple weeks. A video will likely follow. :)

How do you like the Ridge Grapplers? I am at a toss up between a few tires, one of them mainly being the Cooper STT MAXX in a 285/70/17. I live where there is snow often so winter conditions are obviously important to me. I'm looking forward to the video of your cab mount chop! Thanks again you guys.

We live in Northern Illinois where we get tons of snow and ice. The Nittos do surprisingly well! They're not noisy at all either.

I had a similar rub issue in reverse with STOCK size Falken Wildpeaks on my '18 TRD OR. The footprint of the Wildpeaks was wider (by almost an inch) than the same size of other tires, including the stock OEM tires and the TOYO AT IIs I am running now. That fact combined with the different offset of the TRD Pro rims (4mm vs stock rims of 15mm) could contribute to the rub issue. I am not surprised that 285s might rub. Their footprint has to be even wider than the stock size Wildpeaks I had. I have no rubbing with the TOYOs. Love them. And love your very informative videos. Wish I had the ability to accomplish the same. Alas, I have no garage nor the obvious huge array of tools you have. Nor the talented help :):oldglory:Keep up the good work.

AT 3Ws. Great tire. Very aggressive look. Had a balance issue. That’s why I switched to the Toyos. But the Wildpeaks are very good tires.

Awesome! I’ve been trying to decide between the Cooper st maxx and the at3w. The Falken’s are so much cheaper.....

Sorry for jacking your thread OP! I’m done now I promise.

@WanderlostOverland - Mark and Merri, do you mind if I ask how the Toytec lift is serving you nearly a year after you installed it? Do you have any regrets or would you change anything about that setup if you were to do it again knowing what you know now?

I am really enjoying your videos. You are about 1-year ahead of my own timeline on my build, and your 4Runner is the right color too. ;)

Thanks for watching our videos! We actually put ToyTec's Boss suspension on our FJ Cruiser two years prior to the 4R. Our tremendously positive experience with the product and ToyTec's customer service lead us to do the same on the 4Runner. The adjustability of the fronts lets us fine tune the height according to the weight of the steel bumper and skids. The HD Super Flex rear coils are perfect for retaining ride height carrying a heavy load yet still provide a smoooooth ride.

I'm thrilled to hear that about the Toytec BOSS suspension. Thanks for taking a moment to answer my question! :)

@WanderlostOverland - I appreciate you guys answering my last question. Here's another: I see that you have 285/70R17 tires on your rig. I have some sitting on the shop floor and will be having them mounted up next weekend (I hope) after I install my Icon 3" lift and SPC control arms.

Did you have to run spacers behind your TRD wheels to give the 285's adequate clearance?

I really want to avoid spacers, or having to buy new wheels anytime soon. Thanks again.

PS: I was soooo close to going with the Toytec lift but got a good deal on the Icon setup right at the last moment.

Nope no spacers. There's plenty of room for the tires using the SPC arms.
The Icons will serve you great!

Hey guys! I hope you don't mind me asking another question. :)

I installed my Icon Stage something-or-another suspension lift today, which is honestly very similar to the Toytec lift you guys have. The Icon kit came with a skid-plate retrofit parts baggie that had abunch of thick washers and some bolts that weren't really any longer than anything already on my TRD Off Road Premium's existing skid-plate.

We messed around with trying to figure out how to make it work and just gave up and moved on with the rest of the installation. I did use a few washers as spacers on the bolts fore and aft of the radiator support brackets to give clearance around the sway bar, but that's all.

Did you guys re-install your TRD OR's skid plate? Did your Toytec kit come with spacers and such to make that work? I don't think I saw any mention of it in your suspension installation video.

    Thanks in advance.

was it for skidplate or the sway gar relocation kit?

It came with the swaybar relocation kit, and a bunch of washers that I can only deduce they meant you to stack together to act as spacers between the skid plate and the OEM brackets that the skid plate bolts to.

I can take some pics if it helps. If you'd rather me send you a direct message here instead of junking up the thread, I'm glad to do that.

Our ToyTec kit came with several sets of spacers, bolts, & washers. There was the diff-drop spacers for the front diff mounts, spacers to drop the skid plate to accommodate the diff-drop, spacers to drop the radiator brackets, and the swaybar relocation spacer w/bolts.
