2004 4.0 V6 176K miles. Just finished doing a Head gasket replacement, put it back together and had a CEL PO328 code on start up. I had the VSC lights on too. I have read these normally come on together. Tore it back apart because it ran rough and found it was a link off on the timing chain. While apart we made sure the Knock sensors were firmly plugged in. Fixed the timing issue and upon startup the CEL PO328 and VSC still comes back on after being cleared. It runs great/normal now so we did get the timing issue solved but I have heard that the knock sensor issue could be caused by crank or Cam sensors. Or is as "easy" as putting in new Knock sensors and a new KS wiring harness and the lights will go off? Jim

Never heard of a Toyota knock sensor going bad. That code says the voltage is out of whack.

Did you plug the knock sensor in backwards? I'd check the wiring for damage or grounding out.

We have never touched the knock sensors besides after the code came up we went back in and pushed the back of the connectors to make sure they were snugly plugged in. These sensors are way down in between the Cyl banks under the lower manifold and under some crossover coolant tubes that make them really hard to get to. We are going after the wiring next and check the grounding. Thanks
