A little on my 4th gen.

    3" lift
    1" body lift
33's (for now till they wear down then will go 35's)
Full steel bumper with 10k synthetic winch, full steel skids, sliders and sherpa roof rack.

No rear sways for over a year. Couldn't tell the difference with it on or off. So I removed them. The fronts had sways and drove fine. Till a few weeks ago, I removed the front sways. Driving on the highway, at 60-70mph, going on straight a way is fine but when the hwy slightly curves, I feel the vehicle swaying more. To me, it's not a comfort knowing it has that much sway. I chopped it off as if it might've just been me and didn't think nothing of it. My daughter drove it for a few hours locally around town (no highway) and that was the first thing she mentioned to me. She asked, "did you raise it higher or did you do something new to the 4runner as it felt tipsy on turns"?

I know a few of you have completely removed your front and rear sway bars. Are your experiences the same or does it feel like nothing changed when you removed the sways? Do you think it's the 1" BL that might've caused it?

The higher you lift and heavier you run the more effects you'll feel with/without your sways. I only have a suspension lift but full steel skids and maybe another 150lb of gear/spare inside. My front sway is removed but rear is still on and I felt the difference immediately. Pretty sure the front is a thicker bar than the rear, so its effect on reducing sway is bigger.

Yah I figured that since I'm almost at or slightly above 4" of lift, that could be the reason as to why my 4runner feels tipsy around curves or turns. I'll probably adjust the shocks CDC valve and hopefully that'll stiffen up the front suspension causing less sway.
