I know the Ultraswing has a second hitch mount for a bike rack but can anyone see an issue with using the tire itself and a rack like this one-
    https://www.amazon.com/Yakima-8002599-SpareRide/dp/B0171A6MSU

I've got to move my rear camera anyway right? and using the Yakima (Thule makes one too and I'd bet others) I'd be quite a bit shorter in total length.

Only an issue when actually removing the spare tire for use.

The same question could be applied to the competing Wilco.

I've decided a rear bumper replacement is not for me...no true off-roading/wheeling/rock crawling; just crap weather with lots of snow and ice on the roads. A hitch mount spare tire carrier would keep me from crawling under the truck and/or provide 2 spares if I ever get to do my fantasy drive, the Trans-Labrador Highway.

I don't see why that wouldn't work, they (RIGd) have 40" tires on some off there Ultraswings. Don't know if there is a weight limit on the wheel mount itself tho. Why don't you give them a call, they're super helpful over there. Great bunch of kids!
    BTW I LOVE mine!

I vote for using a standard hitch mount, no point in getting a Wilco tire carrier unless you can’t fit whatever tire size you’re running in the spare area.

    Thanks for the thoughts.
The better-half pointed out today that the 'tilt' of the Ultraswing might be problematic with two bikes. One bike will be resting/rubbing
on the other bike unless we put a spacer of some kind between.
So now I'm entertaining the idea with the Wilco solo which looks straighter.

Mtbpsych, as far as me and tire sizes go both sets I have (K02's and studded Snow Claws) will fit in the OEM spare tire holder under the 4R.
I like looking/admiring the 35 inchers some enjoy but they don't have a place in my life or back ;) In fact I can barely budge the Cooper Snow Claws
    since they are on steelies.
