I'm installing a Battle Born Lithium as my auxiliary battery in my 2020 5th Gen ORP.
After researching installation location options, I've decided to locate the aux battery, passenger side near fire wall.
My concern is the heat in the engine bay and how it will effect the charging of and performance of the lithium battery.
I am considering installing some sort of heat shielding between the manifold and the aux battery, and installing hood vents to help dissipate heat from the engine bay.
Does anyone have a Lithium Battery installed in their engine bay and can give some feedback as to how well it functions?
Any other suggestions to help remove excessive heat from the engine bay?
    Many thanks....

I am using a CTEK D250SE charger. This will allow charging Lithium with smart alternator and solar power input.

Why I ask is because I put one in my bike. And It said not to ever charge it with a tender and it charges quick. Very light!!! WOW, that battery weighs 29 pounds??

Thanks guys, Really want to know if anyone out there is using a Lithium battery for dual battery set up and if they also are mounting the Lithium battery in the engine bay. I was hoping to get some feedback from anyone who was already running this set up and what the temperature is in the engine bay while traveling at slow speeds on the trail?

TOGO, did you end up mounting lithium in engine bay? I am researching dual battery/solar setup and was considering doing the same.

    Hey ryjod,

I decided to install my dual set up in the passenger side cargo area and it’s worked out really well. I plan on posting a more detailed explain with a couple more photos in a few days.

    Hey TOGORUNNER,

Awesome! Looks good. I just heard back from BB who say you can put it under the hood but probably not the best idea unless it’s well insulated. I’m leaning heavily towards putting the BB in the cabin. I “cant” put battery where yours is because of the turnbuckles I currently have to keep my bed/drawer system in place. I plan to mount the battery and BCDC1225 on the front of the bed/drawer system. Trying to figure out how to wire/mount everything to the drawer so that I can plug and play.. or unplug and remove the storage drawer/battery setup if desired. Curious where you’re running the cable for solar. Looking forward to the post in a few days! Thanks for update!
