Is it normal to feel the 4.0 Liter buzz/growl in the steering wheel to some degree at some rpms? Just trying to get a sense of normal driving expectations. I would assume the limited powertrain will give a little more engine feedback since it's an all wheel drive setup...just like the tighter steering feel (I enjoy that feeling)

Does any of that smooth out over time and after the powertrain is truly broken in? I only have 300 miles on my truck

No, there will always be vibes coming from the engine for forever, although should be minimal. It’s a big metal mechanical machine, it’s going to vibrate.

I didn't buy the truck to please my wife:)

Seriously, though, i get quite a buzz (just like a cell phone vibration) through my hand at a couple points in the rpm sweep during moderate acceleration and am just making sure it's a normal characteristic of the truck.

Being serious, I haven't noticed a vibration in the wheel of my 2020 Limited, and especially not one that occurs or changes at certain RPMs. I'm not discounting those who report it happening and being normal -- in addition, I only have 1200 miles on mine -- but did want you to know that it doesn't seem to be happening on my particular 4R. For whatever that's worth.

I don't really get a vibration either. Nothing were I would notice.

Now that damn 4WD lever vibrates and every time I throw something it there it drives me insane.

Blacked out badges, window deflectors, smoked 3rd brake light. I have a Borla muffler on order as well as some color matched engine cover stickers. I'll be painting the stock wheels soon as well. Falken tires in the fall as well.
    Your 4Runner orrrrr......?

Update: Just had my 4R on a short highway trip. Did notice slight buzzing in the wheel at certain rpms, like while accelerating. Very subtle, but was there. Prob only noticed it because of this thread!

Thanks for the replys all! Mine actually seems to be lessening as i put more miles on it (I only have 500). Things just needing to loosen up a little????
I think it will get to the point its subtle and disappear within normal truck vibs.

For those that have an off road model with the mechanical 4wd lever, place your hand on it and you'll feel what the engine is actually doing on the other side of those rubber mounts
