My 2008 4Runner will not run. It barely starts, and when it does their is a knocking sound from the engine. Video file attached. Car dies when trying to put in gear.

Does this mean my engine is broken.

I had the timing chain replaced in summer 2018.

Your help in diagnosing the video/audio file.

    Thanks

    Tim

Not seeing the video/Audio file attachment. Is this a V6 or V8 engine?

unable to upload the video/audio file, extension not supported.

My 4Runner is a V6, rear wheel drive.

Basically, i was driving along the highway and the car engine stopped - car would not start. But engine did barely turn over with a boost, but would not stay started.

    Thanks

Here is a loink to my 4Runner video file, showing the engine trying to run, but there is knocking sound from the motor and the engine will not work.

Not an expert, but it sounds like your timing chain has jumped a tooth or two and is way out of time. Don't give up yet, it might be fixable, but it's not going to be cheap either. I have read of a few V6 engines doing this over the years. Hopefully someone with more experience will jump in here in the next few days. Just keep bumping your thread a couple times a day so it stays at the top. Good Luck.
