new member from the EU!

Hi guys,

New here and hope to check out a 2007 4RUNNER V6,
is all new to me (the car) as these are rare in the EU, there might only be a handfull around,

Woule be interesting to know WHAT too look for in buying this car,
engine issues, mechanical, etc..

any info is apreciated!
I'll be looking at several threads on the site too,

Just got called from Belguim where the cars at,
the guy doesnt want to sell it for use in the EU..

bummer..
so this one gets cancelled.. seller is

seller told me it was an import from canada, but ONLY wants to sell it for use in Africa..

so this might take longer than expected.
hoping my new buddies at 4runners.com are able to help me out....

so.. search goes on..

for me its practical impossible to shop in the US or Canada for this car..

Wonder if it's a stolen car. Nevertheless, happy hunting! I'd guess your best bet would be to shop on/near US military bases in the EU, buy cars from people who imported them for use but don't want to bring them to their next assignment.

I just look up mobile.de... nothing interesting except the fact there is assholes out there trying to sell 2020 Pro for 77k €

 

that 77k is (I expect ) including taxes..
dont worrie but thats ridiculous in the EU..
and we in Holland have an extra tax on cars and bikes.. so above vat and import duties..
that 77k is plus 21% =toooo expensive!!!

Welcome, hope you have some luck searching for a 4runner. Like 4rBoss I would like to visit Europe again. I spent time there as an 18 year old as a member of the American Leadership Study Group. Today it is known as American Leadership Acadamy. Spent time in London, Brussels and Paris. Truly enjoyed the visit.

That’s unusual, to say the least. Here in Canada, whoever pays the piper calls the tune. However, as someone said, maybe it’s stolen. A lot of stolen 4 Runners end up in Africa. I guess it’s easier to register them there if they even need registration. 4 Runners get stolen quite often in the Toronto area, they’re popular in the third world.
Having driven in Europe quite a bit, including Holland, a 4 Runner would not be the best choice of a vehicle for Europe because of the gas mileage and lack of parts. Mine gets 13L/100km - prohibitive at European gas prices for most people. I’m envious that you guys can get Jimny’s over there. That would be my pick- a new diesel Jimney! Too cool!

 

Ive put an ad on kijijjii... in Toronto, looking for a fourrunner.... received one reply sofar.. wait and see what it brings..

about fuel in the EU its bad and or gets even worse..
since last month we have (in holland) an extra diesel tax, which could be as bad as 250 euro's 300 dollar us a year, extra..
having a diesel is being punished.. not even 4 years ago these were welcomed because these were fuelefficient and "green"
green supposed to be the new Magic word in the EU,
and or will get worse for sure..
fuel prices in the Netherlands are €1.33 ish for diesel and about €1.70 for gas..

so your jimny would be pretty expensive to run.. specially on diesel.. hence Im looking for a car on gasoline.

 

One great thing about a 4 Runner, besides being the most reliable 4x4 in the world, is it’s safety. 8 air bags! Pretty important for the big roads in Europe. I don’t even think the new Defender has 8 air bags.

A number of cities and countries including Amsterdam will ban ICE vehicles by 2030 and then it’s just a matter of time for the rest of us to follow. The shift is already happening. We’re witnessing something akin to the shift from horse and buggy to the ICE at the turn of the 20th century. If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.

 

in Amsterdam we have a green left-wing party in de city counsel,
and some of these people want to make (some kind) of statement so they are known for making (bad) desicions if the future,
about 60 -70% of people living in the "main" city in the Netherlands (It wants to be seen as a world city, but only with expected 1 milion residents in the 2040ties, if ever..) living at minium wages, or barely making a living, with expensive housing or no houses to be found where you could/ would like to live in.

No.. we make the desicion, that all these residents should buy a EV, which no-one can afford..
the public transport system is too expensive and crowded, or everyone should use their bicycle.. right..
hence we look to move away from the Netherlands,
but we deviate.. just a bit..

Hi patrick2wd - I respect what you’re saying. I love Holland for what it is - a sophisticated urban environment. There’s not much wild nature there, if any, so for a Canadian like me, it is very different from my small town, rural life outside of Canada’s big cities. I can take my 4 Runner far off the grid near where I live if I want to. No one knows the future perfectly but we do know that we need to stop emitting CO2. So, life will be very different and that is the history of human evolution. No one still lives in caves. The Dutch are among the worlds smartest, and most educated people. They will get it right even if it still needs to be tweaked along the way. I love going to Holland, and marvel at all the healthy, smart people I see and meet there, riding bikes everywhere. It’s a big lesson for the rest of the world about hope for the future

found a nice pearlwhite 2008 4runner in Ohio,

just for my info,

what does it take to get this car shipped,
does it needs to be registered?
what costs can I expect,
or can I expect some more bills, IF I would buy this car?

Ok... an update..
Was working to purchase the white above 4runner..
But Im hitting a brick, or very thick concrete wall.

Seems that they do not want to make an effort to export the car, or make an appointment for a hired technician to check the car..

I must be at the shop in persone to check the car.. but as anyone would understand.. its near to impossible for me to travel for weeks through the US to shop for a proper 4runner..
I do have a job aswel..

And the car needs to be registered to another US citizen..

So a big brick wall....
