How to: 4th gen Traction-off Mod (splice-free)

This is the first mod I did to my truck when I got it 4 years ago.

Traction control is a wonderful thing... Most of the time! There are some instances where the traction control in our 4Runners can get VERY annoying, very quickly. After almost being t-boned pulling out of a parking lot in a snow storm, I decided to find a way to kill my traction control.

What this mod does is simple: you disconnect a pressure sensor, making the truck sense a fault in the ABS system, therefore disabling traction control. Best part about this mod is it's completely reversible. Want to turn traction back on? Simply flip the switch in your cab back to the on position and restart your truck. Your traction control will work as it should.

So, what do you need for this mod?
-1 two pole on/off toggle switch
-2 pieces of wire
-heat shrink
-some butt connectors/wire
-a coat hanger or piece of wire to fish wires through the firewall
-30 minutes to an hour for install

SO, basically, you are creating a bridge with this wiring. The 2 pieces of wire are used to complete and interrupt the circuit.

What I did was unplug the connector and flip it over.


Red piece:
You are going to take one long butt connector and crimp it to fit on the pin inside the connector (firewall side of connection).

White pieces:
Use two crimp-on prongs adapters (cut one of the prongs off of each one) and plug them into the connector.
