    I Moved 5100's from .85 to 2.5.

I would like to debunk any and all worries about the 5100's getting stiffer the higher you go. It simply is not true.

Now INITIALLY right after install (readjusting from .85 to 2.5) the front shocks will feel rock hard. I drove it around my complex twice and then parked it in the garage overnight. When I drove it the next day it had settled overnight and feels the same as it did at .85.

I have not realigned it since my work is less than 2 miles away and I have rear daystars on their way for this next Saturday early morning install. Probably the weekend after this I will have it aligned at the dealer.

The only thing I noticed about the 2.5 setting is that it somehow feels more refined without added stiffness.......then again this could be that the rear still has stock height and this will probably change after the rear daystar spacer. (I have rear 5100's also)

Lastly I thought it would look goofy with 265's but it looks just fine.

Saturday almost left me down and out.

Re installation went fine until I was trying to put back together the driver’s side. Somehow the threads on the top hat that bolts the entire assembly together cross threaded.

This is on a Saturday at around 2pm.

I called EVERYWHERE to have it looked at. Hoping to just grenade it with an impact wrench.

I ubered to Midas (with my shock assembly) which were the only people that were available to help. After an hour it just wasn't going to happen. Called my local Toyota dealer on a hail Mary chance they would have a front Bilstein 5100 in stock (I originally purchased my set thru Amazon) and wow they had 2.

I ubered there to pick up the part and back to Midas. The shop owner at Midas put my shock back together for free. then I ubered home.

From that point it was just bolting everything back up and test driving.

    Crazy weekend!

Until you come off a speed bump or the edge of a rock or tree limb...when that spring tries to go full extended and feels like it's trying to take off the LCA...
I've had that happen way too many times to know ..it's better to run a the proper spring for lift, with no pre-load, then you def get the best of both

I could not reproduce this issue no matter how much I tried. Maybe this would happen if you had a 285+ LT tire that weighed 80lb+ (Boat Anchor?)?

Im running stock size P rated AT at 39lbs per tire?

On another note wheelers could not come thru on the rear daystar spacer. I was told 3 were ordered and one was lost in shipping. Guess mine was the one lost in shipping and that they would not get any spacers in until the end of next week when daystar resolves the issue of where that part went. I canceled my order and used Amazon. Part will be here on Friday. Geez I just want to get the thing aligned and its being held up on this part.

The Ride seems great even without the spacer in so i feel its a good choice. I did not want to fuck with the spring rate.
