have had my dealership service my vehicle. Both times pressure was set at 40 psi. When I bought car also at 40 psi.

Two pen tire checkers read out 40. I though it was 32 psi.... what am I doing wrong.

Whats wrong, the dealer! I wouldn't let them touch anything, as far as the tires just buy a decent gauge

A decent gauge will help you out. Stick to what Manufacturer puts on door plate for stock tires.

when I buy a new vehicle I re torque all the lug nuts and check all the tire pressures all 5 tires. well the lug nuts were a little off some over tight some looser than spec. tire pressures 4 on the pavement 35 psi.. the spare was 50 psi .. did not like that over the tire spec.. 40 psi is OK .. 35-38psi is good for me .. 32 psi too low..lower gas MPG..

My tires look good even wear on all.. rotate tires 7-10K miles..

    To be determined
My dealer sold me my runner with all tires set to exactly 26 lbs. I imagine they do that to create a more cushy ride

My door jam says 32 psi front and rear tires. I checked/reset to that maybe a few weeks ago I'll need to check again sometime. Problem with gauges is if you take readings from 5 different ones you'll get three different numbers. Spend a few bucks on a gauge not the 3.00 Wally Mart ones. A pound or two isn't going to make or break any vehicle but still I at least like a reasonable quality gauge.
