    Nothing yet. Just wait.
I've scrolled through a bunch of posts but haven't found what I'm looking for. I got my 5th gen. about two months ago. I love it. I'm trying to figure out crossbars for the rails on my roof. I've been thinking about Yakima. They've got some that run between the roof rails but also have the bars that extend beyond the sides of the roof rails. I have a rod vault that I need to mount and I've been thinking about the Skinny Warrior basket. Will I need to get the bars that extend beyond the rails to mount both of these? Your thoughts please.

Contact Yakima and see what they say. I’m thinking they used to have an online build your kit thing. May try that as well

I really like the LFD crossbars but I've heard they have some resonance at highway speed. I'd get them in a minute if anyone can confirm that this has been resolved?

Thule Areobars with the 450r mounts. Can’t even tell they are up there, no noticeable wind noise.

I am sure Yakima makes some kind of aerobar as well. Don’t get square bars whatever you do.

I went with ARTEC INDUSTRIES 5G Venture Cross Rails (https://www.artecindustries.com/4R_roof_rack) for every day use, I use Yakima crossbars for my RTT, there are a few others out there a little cheaper but I really liked the way these are built and IMO great customer service....

2nd the Thule aero. Never hear mine and keep them installed all the time. As a bonus, the type i have can be removed and used on any vehicle with rails (no feet, so not specific) so I've loaned them out. I'd use them on our Odyssey as well if it had rails...

Back to OP, you'll need to measure what you want to install, but surely you don't need overhanging bars to mount a skinny basket and a rod vault.

I am interested in them as well but have read in a few places the same thing... Eventually I am possibly looking to mount a 36 x 48 Rhino Rack universal platform. Or just buy 5 crossbars to get more surface area.

One thing to consider is the cost. When your done paying for 4 ( on average) crossbars for the factory rack, your almost in the price range of a 3/4 rack like the Victory or LFD racks. Just something to think about.

ive got a NFAB rack which is basically almost like a basket that sits in between the factory rails. I have no noticeable noise with it.

Good point... My biggest issue thought is that I live in New York state (in more ways than one ) which uses a ton of salt during the winter season. I contacted LFD and they only make the side rails out of steel. And when the stainless steel crossbars are added in, it still comes out to about a 900 rack which I could never justify for my personal usage. Three stainless steel bars, a fairing, and shipping will run me 450. Truthfully I will only probably need three maybe four crossbars...I am only occasionally mounting a spare trailer tire, my Rotpax waters containers when I going ATVing, ladders and family affects when we go away. I have no doubts that the powder coating of the LFD bars are top notch but the problem with powdered coated steel is that once they chip they began to rust like hell. And I do go to the shore a lot which will also take its toll. I love the roof racks especially the Front Runner but I will never come close to its full potential.

LFD, Prinsu, SSO, and probably some others, all make an all aluminum rack. LFD also makes the cross bars in aluminum.
