Last night I installed my new C4 Fab diff skid and ran into some things that will help the next person. I decided on the C4 skid because it goes the furthest forward from the others I have seen. I like protecting the yoke and driveline joint here.front.jpg

The C4 Fab skid does not come with instructions, it just has a strip of paper that says to visit their website, which also did not have anything on it for the diff skid. It is only 6 bolts so it is pretty easy to figure out but there are a couple tricks. FIRST and foremost, grab 2 beers and open one or both. Second, you need to install the E-Locker motor plate shown here prior to mounting the skid on the KDSS Bar bolts if you purchased this option. This plate is next to impossible to install once the skid is bolted in place.

Next, remove the nuts from the KDSS Sway bar (19mm). You will also have to back the driver side bolt out about 1/2" to get the skid tab to slide onto the bolt on that side. Slide the plate onto the bolts and loosely reinstall the nuts, this allows the plate to pivot upwards on the bolts without slipping off and cracking you in the dome.

Lastly, pivot the plate up on the rear bolts and install the top ring over the front of the diff and lock it down tight. It is a TIGHT fit so some small hands and creative angles will be required.

Hopefully if you get one of these this will turn your install into a 10 min project and avoid a little of the off and on again ended up doing.

I am pretty happy with it and it seems to offer more protection than others I found on the market. I will report back after I've mangled it up a bit haha! It protects the drain plug without hanging down to far.

I'm glad there's a option for us KDSS guys, other brands don't offer a KDSS version.

Yeah, Those would have saved me one off and on haha! Thanks for posting them for everyone! I just went on their site and found the directions, I missed them because they were under the '10+ (5th gen) not the '14+ (5th gen).
