    Hello.

    I have a 2020 TRD pro - halogen. I want to upgrade to OEM Bi-LED. I need harnesses, correct?

    If so, where do I get them?

    Thanks in advance!

    Cant answer for the converter wire part since I did not change from halogen housing to bi-LED housing.

    But wanted to ask if you have considered swapping halogen bulbs to LEDs? The reason to ask is;
    1) From what I see newer LED bulbs like GTR ultra 3 have beam pattern like LED housing and have life time warranty.
    2) If any of the bulbs fail the halogen housing is serviceable vs bi-led housing you need to buy a new housing if a bulb fails.
    3) I dislike the bi-led highbeam. It is useless to me and I have to run auxiliary lights to have a usable highbeam light output.

    Edit;
    For the existing bi-LED owners the converter wire harness is a life saver. I was able to get a trigger wire to turn on auxiliary lights when the highbeams are turned on. I absolutely love the wire I purchased. It was OEM like (or better) quality.

    It seems most folks say putting an LED bulb in a halogen housing is a bad idea. I'm not sure about this?

    Your point #2 makes sense.

    If I get a 2021 model, it will have LED lows and halogen highs - maybe this is the best case senario. I still don't know if 2021 is a plug and play or if I need an adapter?

    I can buy a 2021 headlight and a 2024 unit as well. Trying to decide which is best and how they will plug in.

    I'm someone absolutly deny that as long as you buy a good LED bulb with good beam pattern. Here's a comparison from youtube halogen vs GTR ultra 3.
    upload_2025-9-9_11-9-15.png

    Me personally have used older GTR ultra 2 and the beam pattern was very impressive. I can imagine GTR ultra 3 would have even more improved now. Ever since I have experience few good LEDs on my vehicles and my friends vehicles. (Since I'm the one who install them on their vehicles.). Sadly I haven't got a chance to test GTR ultra3 personally.

    I think in 2021 certain trims still used reflector as highbeam and projector as low beam LED only. My 2021 TRD Pro came with both highbeam and low beam on the projector. When I try to use the reflector as an additional highbeam I did not like the pattern much. May be, maaay be... The reflector on the bi-leds may not be ideal as a highbeam. They are only meant for DRL only. But visually they look same, So I can't 100% say if its a good idea.

    Edit -
    If you are wondering what I currently use? I'm using much cheaper Hikari Titanova on one of my 4runners that came with halogens. They where $93.49 in Feb 2023 from Amazon. In my books bulbs improve with time. From what I see the GTR Ultra3 came in 2025 have better beam pattern than what I have now.But Hikari Titanova still have crazy light power, 2220lux vs halogen only got 725lux.

    I wouldn’t typically recommend tossing LED’s into a halogen housing in general but I would think it’s worth a shot as long as you’re aware of why and check to ensure it doesn’t blind other drivers.

    (I did entertain the idea of looking into swapping LEDs for the serviceable halogen units but haven’t bothered as I’d have to be a trailblazer)
