Has anyone here (real person on this forum) actually taken delivery of a new 6th gen???

The generational changes to the powertrain are a revelation. It never holds back a shift, never runs out of breath when you need to pass or merge, no more fear of entering….the left lane. Cruise is intuitive, shifts near invisible.

This 2.4T operates at low stress, low rpm, turbo spools light psi. That’s also your first sign of potential long-term reliability, btw.

I walked into the dealership last Saturday just to look and see what they looked liked and they had a new Underground TRD OR Premium so I bought it. This is what I've done to it so far (before/after).

Really love the new 6th gen but a few things made me not want to buy.

    1) No more V6.
    2) Back seats go down differently than the 5th gen, and you'll lose about 3-4" in leg room for truck camping.

I'm not a fan of the new back seats either.

What is it you don't like about the turbo 4?

After seeing the OTT tune guys post some dyno numbers, the turbo 4 is going to be WAY better for heavy loads and towing and the TFL daily guys on YT doing the Ike Gauntlet at max payload with one basically running the same speed and time as a Dodge ram 3500 loaded down isnt bad at all. I know my tundra and 4R dont have near the torque curve of that new Turbo4. The tiny turbo obviously spools up and is at full boost by 2300rpm, thats nuts really. It makes peak torque at like 2200-2300rpm which is where you are when driving so a kick-down pass while pulling a trailer should feel like a rocket compared to a 4th or 5th gen with a 1GR-FE. Honestly the numbers for the new turbo 4 look very 4.0 + TRD Supercharger'ish which is an absolute animal at doing everything you asked it to do.
I dont however like the idea of tiny turbo on a daily driver, its going to be so stinking hot and create so much Intake Air temps. Not a big fan at all....

I believe it makes peak torque at 1700 RPM's.

I definitely understand the concern about heat. But, it's not really being pushed that hard, so I'm not too worried about it, personally.

I have owned one for about a month now. It's a SR5 - 4WD. The gas tank is too small compared to the old 23 gallon one. It feels very light. The electronic steering feels so light and make it easy. It also comes with smaller tires. Not sure why!

Kinda think i saw that one at work recently. Was wondering if it had wheel spacers on it from how the tires are outside the fender flares.

I put a deposit down on a 2025 ORP yesterday. I’m trading in my 2021 ORP which I’ve been happy with. The new one is supposed to be in at the end of September, I’ll post pics and feedback then.

I just picked up my 6th Gen TRD ORP.

I came from the JDM scene 20 years ago. This is my 1st SUV purchase ever and I can honestly say, this thing drives soooooooo smooth. I really thought it was going to be like driving a boat or something. Love the space and look. Over the next 2 years I plan on adding as many functional items for offroading and camping remotely as possible.

    Next 3-6 months:
    1. Hardshell roof tent
    2. Awning
    3. Pressurized water tank + popup attached shower
    4. Dry popup tent to cook/chill in
    5. 1/2 trunk organized storage
    6. Rear bumper replacement to add dual swing outs to put tire on 1 and jerry cans on the other.

    Mid 2026 - Mid 2027
    1. Lift, suspension, tires/rims. My goal is to make this already aggressive body style look mean as hell. haha
    2. Wrap

Yes indeed, I just traded my 2024 Rav4 for a gorgeous 2025 TRD Sport Premium 4x4 in Cutting Edge color (strange color name, but I love it). Anyway, I had a 2020 Limited 4runner and should have never let it go, but it had no safety feature such as a simple blind spot warning and when it was windy on the highway, the truck would buffet and sway around like a boat and the engine power was pretty tame, albeit bullet proof.

Enter the 6th Gen - so many useable safety features, wonderful interior, and so many other things I love about the truck. I was a bit surprised that Toyota has decided that a 2.4L turbo would be the only engine option, but after the first test drive, I had all my power and torque at 1600 RPM - the truck is a beast! After the first tank I filled up with 93 octane and can feel the extra power in the seat of my pants. The sport mode changes the engine dynamics and the engine has a very satisfying rumble and throaty growl. Anyway, I could go on forever, but the 6th Gen is mighty impressive. My truck came with 275/55 R20’s with these little nubs on the sidewall that gives the truck a really aggressive look. Here’s my baby! so glad to be back in a 4Runner! I’m not sure what mods I will do to the truck as it has so many useful options already, and (please don’t cap on me!) I do not plan on taking my beautiful truck off roading.

What brand and model of tires are those? Is that how it came from the factory or did the dealer swap them?

Hi there, they replaced the factory tires with Nitto Ridge Grappler all terrain tires (265/55 R20)

With as aggressive as the tread is, I expected the ride to be noisy and rough, but it’s plush and very car like while giving me the look of a heavy duty 4x4 tread. I love the way they look on my 4Runner.

I am seeing a lot of them in the SouthEast Toyota region getting the tire swap, i assume its done at the port, i doubt all the dealers are putting the same tires on them by happenstance. Its not every one, but quite a few of them are getting the upgrade tires.
