Bought a starter today, the OG is starting to give up the ghost. 18 years and 250k miles was a good run. Bought another Denso, can't argue with the original's longevity.

Great proactive move. I did mine in 2023 and was surprised to find how easy it is to rebuild. Got this Victory Lap kit from Amazon and it was really simple to do. That was 2+ years and ~40K miles ago and so far, so good.

The coilovers came in and I threw them in and torqued everything down. I think they're a bit better for my use-case. I also attempted to throw the seal kit on the rod ends and the tolerance was a bit tighter than I wanted so I left it nakedness I'll rebuild the lower rod ends on the 2.0s and post them up...my alignment is 5 weeks out...yowza!

She's driving better now and straight! My pseudo alignment will work until the pros take it. The tire gap is awee bir lower on the front then previous, but we'll within my tolerance. The previous setup had a 3" space newfound to collar and spring ring, this is at 2.5"...

Thanks! I too like it...if it drops much after settling, I might crank it up a couple rotations...right now, she's clunk free and tight!

I was parked in my truck about to go into a store when a guy in a BMW pulled a little too far into the spot ahead and bumped me. Not on a scratch on the Lost Trails winch bumper but the protrusion where a shackle attaches punched a hole into his grille. This isn't yesterday, just showing the part that punched his grille.

    IMG_0244.jpg

Very weird deal. The guy had a little issue getting out of the car and was wearing a hospital-style wristband. I looked at my front end and said I was good but it looked like he got the worst of it. He didn't even look, just went off toward the store. I got back in to finish what I was researching before going in. I looked up maybe 2 minutes later. His car was gone and another was pulling into the spot. Felt like a disconnect of some kind, like one of those goofy "glitch in the matrix" things people post. In hindsight, I regret not asking the guy if he was okay, not from the bump but in general.

Are these the LCA bolt PN's? I've got a torn boot and considering replacing with a Freedom Offroad upper/lower kit and wanted the OEM bolts for alignment purposes.

Presumably two of each? Apologies, I'm not super mechanically inclined but logic would lead me to believe two of each as one for each side?

Yesterday I field-tested a Starlink setup. When I considered getting one, I didn’t like the idea of an exterior mount but couldn’t imagine much of a choice until I saw the sunroof mount. Observations:

    - Works through the sunroof both stationary and on the move. Stays connected for a brief period under trees but not long. Would be fine out on an interstate or other open road.

    - The mount is solid. It would easily stay in place even on a very rough trail. I was hoping to be able to close the shade panel but it won’t. I will make a shade with a cutout for the Mini.

    - Runs well plugged into a Jackery 300 12v socket. I hoped to use the console socket with the switched plug but I have other things running off that circuit and it wouldn’t work. I have a plan and once it works from there, I’ll run the cable through the console, behind the dash, up the A-pillar, and across to where it can live at the edge of the headliner sunroof opening.

    - Very fast and easily handled any web tasks including streaming video.

    - Initial connection takes some time.

Bottom line: very happy with the purchase (on sale for $299) as a road trip, camping, household backup, and take my laptop to the park to work solution.

Awesome! For work, we throw them on top in a Pelican case and they work famously and no one is the wiser with what's in them!

Didn’t do anything, but spotted an all black 4Runner cruising down the 5 near the Balboa/Garnet exit here in San Diego with the license plate 395RUNR or something similar, figured they had to be on here somewhere. It was a 5th gen.

Used the Cerakote Kit again just this morning, current headlights are from FB Marketplace & OEM. I will probably bite the bullet next year and get a new OEM pair + clear PPF for longevity.

Just tried to get most of the yellowing gone around the edges due to age & Texas sun.

Replaced the Bank 2 VVTi solenoid and figured might as well have a look at the filter but that means the alternator coming out and that means you're almost halfway there to changing the belt tensioner so I changed the belt tensioner.

It was like new. But it only has 117,000 km and it's only had Toyota or Mobil 1 oil filters and synthetic oil. I believe the solenoid valve coil was starting to go bad and that's what threw the code. So far, so good, knock on wood.

All I get is this little box?!
That kit only lasted a few months for me. I bought a cheap drill sanding kit from Amazon and it worked wonders. Need to apply 2k clear coat though after sanding or else they stay really dull and cloudy.

Drove from Bradenton, FL to Sumter, SC towing a 5x8 enclosed trailer yesterday chasing the Tropical Storm up the coast. The Toyo A/T III's and the 4th Gen handled it with ease
