Last week my display screen/back up camera just stopped working. Bluetooth/stereo works fine, just no screen. Does this sound like something that’s fairly common? I’ve only had my Gen5 (2016 Trail) for a little over a year.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
    This thread may help: https://www.4runners.com/threads/display-went-blank.5269/

To be honest, most of they guys in that thread that had the same issue as you, wound up replacing the entire head unit.

Crutchfield will fix it for you...

    Mine did the same thing.

I fiddled w/ it for 3 months. I nor an electronics repair shop could fix it.

New Kenwood unit from Crutchfield fixed it right up... and it has Garmin GPS...

You know why the 4Runner never tops its segment in JDPower dependability studies? This is why. Replace or upgrade the head unit.

the screen IS replaceable, it's just a bunch of clips and screws and a ribbon cable. But the cost of a replacement screen and repair, just get a new headunit with more stuff on it.

Steely, I looked into replacing the screen.

$$$ for the screen... and I'd still be stuck with the sub-standard OEM head unit.

I went with a new Kenwood head unit w/ built in Garmin GPS.

Wouldn't go back to factory if they were givin' 'em away with gold bricks...
