Maybe, the only time I check my mileage is when we are on a road trip and I'm hypermilling because my wife wanted to take her Rav4 Hybrid and she tells me we could be getting 42 instead of 18. Her car is ok, but the 4runner is a lot better.

    We do the same.

My wife has a Subaru Outback that gets 10 more mpg's but we always take the 4runner on trips because it's way more comfortable in every respect.

I think they are going to have to do an engine change to the LC if they plan on keeping it in the line up. That thing gets such bad reviews and bad mpgs for a 4 cylinder hybrid.

A 3 mpg gain isn’t bad but the cost of admission to get there makes it not worthwhile.

A 15.7% increase in fuel efficiency versus what is the increase in price in various trim levels?

I’d guess about $10k increase in price of the old ORP 2024 to 2025? I can buy a lot of gas for $10,000 for a V6 if needed.

The new Pro is $13k more than a 24 Pro. I can't justify the difference, especially since it's a turbo 4cyl.

I highly doubt it. Why would they offer an engine with less power and worse fuel economy to satisfy a small percentage of potential buyers?

That 4 cylinder had only 157 hp, could only tow 2000#, and barely got better fuel economy than the V6. Nobody wanted it.

I do wonder what they're going to do with it. It seems like a lot of folks would even rather have a non-hybrid with the turbo 4 to get some cargo space back.

A small percentage of potential buyers? Do you mean the millions of buyers that bought the previous generations of 4runners?

Do you think that the majority of buyers would prefer a less powerful engine that gets worse gas mileage?

Since you have both to compare, I have a question. Do you prefer the function of folding all the seats up for cargo space better in the 5th gen? I checked out the 6G yesterday and I think i like the 5G a little better on that detail.

The 5th gen cargo space ROCKS! The 6 gen cargo space sucks. I hunt and will not be able to use the cargo area for a sleeping area due to the disparity is lost space (due to battery) and the 2nd row seats do not offer an even/level area to sleep.

Prior to this I had already decided to buy a roof tent for my hunting trips.

I thought the same. When I rolled the second row up I was also put off by the fact that the seats didn't secure or lock in some way at least in that position. If I had to sleep in there, nevermind. I wouldn't unless some aftermarket team found an air mattress design to level it out. Lol

The seats do secure with a strap mechanism. But I agree that the way the 6G seats fold up sucks. For me its not a big deal since I have no plans to sleep in it/go camping in it etc.

Right. I never PLAN to sleep in my ride until I do and that 6G would tick me off a smidge. Lol

I talked to a guy briefly today who pulled into my church lot who had the first 6th gen I had seen on the road. He was from the upper peninsula of Michigan and just drove to metro Detroit. I asked him how he liked his new ride. He stopped and looked and me and said you know I am sort of disappointed so far after driving down here. He said the vehicle did almost felt at times like it was hydroplaning in a heavy rain off and on. He said there is so much technology in this thing it’s taking away from the feeling I get of controlling the vehicle. He said I am sort of disappointed. I did not talk long but know he made at least a good 4hr trip in his new vehicle. It was the first time anyone who had any vehicle when I asked how do they like it simply replied I am disappointed. I have to admit it really caught me off guard and I felt bad for the guy.

Hydroplaning would be a result of bad tires or driving too fast for conditions.

As far as steering feel; I thought they switched to electric power steering, if I'm not mistaken, which might cause the steering to feel weird.
