Hah!! So I came to some downed trees over the trail, had to back out of what was already a tight path between live trees and stump.


..while in reverse I got stuck between two, on a down slope, and bumped the front drivers bumper cover on a stump while performing a 20-point turn.

I got out tho!

 

Chainsaws not an option there? I know some places here you’re not suppose to cut trees that are over roads…I only know this because my buddy and I were stuck down a hillside that we couldn’t get back up and the only way out had trees across. After cutting our way out a ranger met us and explained they intentionally fell

Got back in a 4R after having a tundra for 6 months

2024 Trd Pro.

The key only works to unlock and lock the car by touching the door handle. The buttons on the fob will not unlock or lock the car. The alarm button doesn’t work either.

Any help would be appreciated.

change keyfob battery and test voltage on main battery

I had the battery checked, it’s good and I’ve replaced the fob battery.

I might have messed with one of the settings.

 

Took about 2 hrs. I just took my time going back n forth installing and watching the video.

 

Nothing. A friend of my wife needed shocks on a 2001 Lincoln Town car. Said is what making a noise going over bumps. Maybe it was because the shock was no longer attached

 

I installed prospeed roofrack, it was missing the wind fairing so I bought a prinsu roof rack from a 2009 Taco on FB marketplace. It's a prinsuspeed rack lol. Looks good imo B)

 

Installed Diode Dynamics Tail as Turn Module + Backup Module and Naviks Motion Lockout Bypass.

 

I think this lock situation was happening when people would change particular settings through the head unit. Not even lock settings- just some miscellaneous settings. It requires a trip to the dealer to reset the lock options. Or... I think you can do it yourself with carista if you have it.

 

I agree with @4runningMan - a lot of newer 4R owners have experienced the 'no lock or unlock with fob' situation after changing a setting.

 

Yep. I i think it was happening when people would change the volume level of the lock "beep"?

In any case, @Levi9 you should be able to get this resolved at the dealer. They can turn the lock back on with their OBDI reader thing.

Hope someone chimes in and says whether you can do it yourself with carista. Would be cheaper than a dealer visit. Maybe the dealer would do it for free if you purchase the truck recently.

 

Thank you guys. That seems to be the issue. I did change the beep. What a weird thing to happen.

 

Removed OEM Trd Pro Roof rack and installed a Gobi roof rack.

 

Have not driven it yet. I do have same GobI rack on an Xterra and no noticeable noise. As far as the paint rack sits on OEM mounting points the front two supports sit on the trim in gutter rail. The wind deflector in the front is the only place I’m worried about, however they do include a 2” wind piece of clear tape to go between the paint and the rubber gasket to help prevent rubbing and scratches.

 

Looks like the carista dongle is now $45 on Amazon. One month subscription might be $25? Not sure. You can change a LOT of 4Runner settings with it. Windows, locks, headlights, seatbelt chime, etc.

You download the app, and it connects to your phone.

At this point just barely cheaper than a dealer visit, I guess. It used to be 20 bucks and a week subscription was like 10 bucks. Not anymore, I see. Probably thanks to this forum lol.

My wife wasn’t that angry luckily, she was there with me, I heard hit the dent with a blow dryer and pop it back a little? I can reach it from the inside. I dunno.

*not paying for steel bumper atm, I’ve already toyed with replacing bumper cover from a scrapyard if I was to get lucky, to rid myself of the viper cut. But the long term plan has been dom tube style bumpers, with not much plated steel.

Nice weather this weekend, so installed the speakers in the doors along with some sound deadening mats (Amazon basics). Not sure how much the sound deadening really helped with road noise but the doors close with a solid thunk now, instead of sounding hollow. Speakers sound great, very happy with the results. Still has the factory radio and does not have aftermarket amp/subwoofer (yet). Those upgrades will come as budget permits.

At some point I'll swap out the rear hatch speakers, but not in any rush to do that now.

 

Here is a thread on it. Long story short dealer can fix it, some dealers will try and charge, some won't. If you are a DIY'er, Carista is an option or bootleg techstream.
