Bro you are firing on all cylinders.

If there was just the 6th gen and the GX/LC250 didn't exist, we would be more inclined to say "oh well, it's all the fat lady brought and sang". But having the 1958 edition LC250 consistently available down the isle for 4-5k discount into the mid 50k range makes the 6th gen 4R a rather awkward proposition.

Sitting in a new 6th gen, it feels tighter even though its only -1.5" narrower inside
BIG problem is the center console. What happened to it? I have not seen a single person say a single thing about the center console yet but holy crap its half the size of a shoebox. Its like a toddler shoe box. Its like 8" x 8" x 5" deep. The center console has gotta be like 11" down to the floorboard but they only made it like 5" deep.
Also the plastic fake molle panels all over the place, in every door, on the sides of the center console, its not my style at all. The big oh'chit handle on the side of the console and shifter. Sitting in the passengers seat is utter chit for anyone with long legs, the glove box hangs way down and way back, wayyyyy too close to the passenger. Also when you open it the door swings down toward you so its basically laying on your legs like a freakin movie table when you open it. Good thing cause if you let it droop all your crap in your glove box is rolling out on the floor. Its weird and hard for me to love the interior.
I have a white limited coming into the dealer later this week i plan to be there when it gets unloaded and check it out. The pictures online make the Limited interior look bangin and i am hoping the nicer seats will make me forget everything i dislike about the interior including the lack of headroom and tiny sunroof. How come nobody else has said anyting about the sunroof? Its half the size of a normal sunroof. I had a bigger pop-up sunroof in my 1989 pickup back in 1998-1999. The sunroof is absolutely tiny PLUS the headroom is cut into like 5" because of it. They coulda made the thing pop up and slide back and out under the roof rack and kept the headroom but man they robbed you big time. I am 5' 9" and my head hits the ceiling in the rear seat sitting up normal. I have to recline the seats to keep my head off the headliner in the back seat. Thats absolutely nuts.

What a bunch of haters, every new model is worse than the last until it isn't... I absolutely love mine...

There's a few hiccups but they'll get them straightened out. There's only 2 things I don't like so far, the spare tire location, which can be fixed with a tire carrier and this huge steering wheel, which I feel is what makes the interior feel small...

The interior feels small cause it is smaller than the 5th gen. Its almost exactly 2" narrower inside. This seems like peanuts on paper but you can feel it when you sit in it.
I also think the roof height is lower, or the seats are higher. My 4th gen with sunroof has more headroom than the 6th gen.

LOL I see you are a first time 4Runner buyer signing up for somewhere in the neighborhood of 75-80k plus tax and markup, welcome to the neighborhood. I would be pissed too if I spent that kind of money on a 4Runner and don't get automatic fawning and praise like so many other circle jerk forums and facebook groups that worship big spenders.

Is there a purpose of those holes other than some designer thought they looked cool?

Yeah I when I sat in one I felt cramped to compared to my 5th gen.

I'm about medium height and medium weight so I can't speak for taller and more, uh, husky, people but if I felt cramped, it ain't good, and I fit fine in a 4th gen camry which weren't the most spacious car around, and I fall into 5th gen Camrys. Maybe I just lost weight. LOL.

It got at least one new buyer here to pay J200 money for a 4Runner. So I guess it worked?

Getting rid of the air dam is a 5 minute job. Not sure if you can do anything about the speed holes, though.

The side air curtains don’t bother me as much as active grill shutters. At least the curtains are fixed pieces. Agree about the ugly air dam.

Theoretically, a good thing. Controlling airflow through the radiator and engine bay. Ideally, it should make the engine operate more efficiently. But, we'll see how it works in the real world.

Maybe toyota will offer the LC250 in non-hybrid in a few years? If they do, I’m going to seriously think about it as a future replacement for our 2018 Highlander….

Not that the Highlander will actually need replacing anytime soon, has way less miles than my 4runner and still looks/functions brand new. But it does have an annoying ride…. I don’t drive it often, but when I do the ride either makes me irritable, or I’m overwhelmed with meh.

What can I say, I’ve really taken a liking to body-on-frame road feel. Just something about how my 4runner moves, the soft jigging on certain surfaces, how it pitches and leans, the steering feel. It’s constantly moving but it’s not harsh. There’s no good reason to like those things on their own, but on my favorite back roads it’s just a perfect combo of comfy and unsettled that keeps it interesting. If the new 4runner/Land Cruiser architecture keeps those ride dynamics, I might just start pushing for a non-hybrid LC250 before the Highlander’s natural death. Toyota just needs to be brave and give customers some options!

As far as people buying the new 4runners, I definitely don’t begrudge them. The main differences between it and the LC are mostly packaging and cosmetics (and available options). If you fit well in it, don’t mind the size, and like the styling, I say go for it. Sure it’s expensive, but c’mon, people are paying 80-90 grand for pick up
Trucks and grand cherokees/wagoneers. I mean, it’s neae 100k for some of these jeeps! That’s nuts when you consider most will last 5 or 6 years before you have go dump them. People also buy new BMWs, which boggles the mind even if you hate money!

In another thread something got me thinking. If I was someone who wants one thats a jack of all trades, with the lower trim LC250 regularly now being able to be had for less than TRD Sport 4Rs, just the full time 4WD alone is worth it over the 4R where only the limited has it, never mind the exterior. If they offered it with a gas only powetrain, I would certainly consider one.

I don’t think any of this stuff is doing much as they aren’t getting too great of gas mileage compared to the last generation.
