I have gone through the owners manual several times and for some reason my Contact photos on my radio screen disappear whenever I go 5 mph or over when I am at 0 mph or parked they come back. Does anybody know how to fix this on a 2023 4Runner? Yes, I have gone through and un synced and re-synced my iPhone. I have also reset my iPhone I’m not sure what else to do help!

Contact pictures showing when parked (attached).

It’s a nanny state feature that all new Toyotas have now, to keep you from getting distracted. My friend’s 2007 Camry Hybrid wouldn’t let you punch an address into the GPS, even with a passenger in the shotgun seat, unless the car was going under 5 MPH or totally stopped. A lot of Toyotas didn’t get it until like MY2020, but the high-end Camrys have had it since 2007 and all Camrys have had it for close to a decade (same with the Corolla).

This is one of many reasons I love driving a 2010 Tacoma with an aftermarket touch screen HU! I would get Camrys and Corollas as loaners all the time when my truck was getting work done at the dealer. I bitched about into the front desk and they said it was a good feature; I highly doubt a dealer would disable this feature, but I’m sure there is something obnoxiously simple you can do to disable it, like simply pulling a wire.

On most (all?) aftermarket car audio/visual stereo systems, there is a wire that goes from the stereo to the transmission to check if you are driving or not which then will not let the car stereo play videos (and apparently pictures as well) if you are driving. Your factory car stereo probably has something similar.

On aftermarket stereos you can just run that wire (light blue or light green, if I remember correctly) from the stereo to ground to over-ride this "safety" feature. I strongly suggest you do NOT even consider doing this on your factory stereo, unless you are a car stereo installation professional and are ready to take full responsibility if something goes wrong, like, for example, your vehicle exploding and burning to the ground.

I’ve read somewhere that it’s been done with the stock infotainment system.
