Is that recent? I know they had a lot of erosion and the beach is only about 4 miles long now.

I really do not like desalinated water. The cruise lines use to allow you to bring aboard 1 case of water and 1 bottle of wine per guest - not since COVID! My wife and I are sailing out of Maryland for Spring break to the Bahamas - We have not been on a cruise since COVID, and have never sailed out of MD. It was a last minute thing.

I cant do the drink package any more... I end up getting the Soda/Water package and bringing a bottle or two of wine on board. And any drinks I want I just pay for, but admittedly I am more of an eater than a drinker, lol. So I'd rather spend money on the dining options like steakhouse, hibachi etc....

Booked an 8 Day on Carnival Mardi Gras this November, got an extended Ocean Suite for the price of an interior room (Casino promotion). Anybody ever sailed the Mardi Gras before? it will be my first time on that ship.

We're doing Alaska on Norwegian Cruise Line in August. Anybody ever do an NCL Alaska cruise? We haven't been on a cruise in ~35 years! Nothing against cruises - we just prefer all inclusive resorts when we want to go someplace with sand/sea. Always wanted to go to Alaska - so when one of my cousins decided to organize a family cruise to Alaska - we were in. Also, it's hot/humid as hell here in August - so will be nice to go on vacation somewhere to escape that.

I'm on a NCL Alaskan cruise right now. Posting this from the NCL Joy in Skagway AK, we just hit port and I have signal.

We're on day 5 and it has been AMAZING. I've done 3 Caribbean cruises in the past, but this far surpasses them. 10/10 would recommend.

I'm not a fan of heat and humidity, so the Caribbean cruises all had a level of misery for me. In AK this time of year it feels like late fall/early winter. In Glacier Bay yesterday it was in the 30s. I'm from New England so this weather doesn't bother me, but if you're from a warmer climate, be aware you need to pack warmer clothes than shorts & tshirts. Check the local weather the week before you go and pack accordingly. It'll be warmer in Aug, but probably still on the cooler side.

I recommend layering and definitely a good raincoat and durable shoes.

Also, a balcony is worth the money, we've spent a ton of time on ours, the views are breathtaking. Yesterday morning we were spotting sea otters swimming by the ship. Binoculars are great for this, I'm so glad our travel buddies brought a second pair.

I can give you more info and some pics when I get back, I have to head to breakfast now then catch out first shore excursion of the day.
