I have been looking at all of the stuff online about headgaskets. This truck is $6800 with 191k miles. Should I risk buying it with all the gasket issues?

hell yes. its head gasket no problem easy fix... better head gasket/s. if that's the only issue o'course. check other stuff on it. body lines or repair areas, under the hood check for wrinkles or miss aligned seams and body panels. leaks on engine and trans, dif.

Did you buy it?! I blew mine at 165k, but that's b'c I tried to limp it off the highway in July after the neck on the radiator blew... limped a little further than I should have. $3k later, engine with 85k on it, and now I'm at 205k and going strong! My fault... head gasket isn't an issue, it just means if it goes bad, prob better plan on a new engine b'c not many people want to do it on an aluminum block.

um, a head gasket is the seal between the engine block and valve head. your talking about cracking or breaking the block from over heating. that's what caused you to have to get a new engine. a simple head gasket wouldn't do that less it's been seeping oil into the spark well and left unfixed. that's whole other fix tho. 160k for a head gasket is about right. personally ive changed them in ather vehicles around 120k-187k.

I should clarify... Being that is a job beyond my scope, the cost was nearly the same on an aluminum block engine, and most discouraged it or didn't want to mess w it. Block was good... Was able to sell it off to offset my costs some.

    Thanks for helping!
