I've had my 4runner for just over a year, so for her birthday I put on a Icon Suspension, some Method wheels, and new tires...pretty happy with how she looks.

Had some rubbing issues with the tires and front mud flaps so I pulled them off, but Id like to put them back on. Im open to ideas so if you have any please let me know. 4runner.jpg

I had the same problem with rubbing. I actually cut out some of the plastic that was causing the issue.
I’m guessing that after your tires wear down this will diminish.

You didn't write the size of the tire but they look like 275s; it also looks like you don't have a suspension lift. With 3 inch lift you will have no rubbing with 275s.

Doing a suspension lift (I wrote 3 inches because that's where I started with mine) will give you plenty of space with no rubbing, probably with the 285s, too. On mine, it looks like the front would accommodate 285s with no rubbing (285s are just .4 inch more in height) but the back tires are where you may need to worry a bit (when off road) and you potentially bottom out the rear well. Stops will help there; having heavy duty coils can help a bit, too.

Thanks. Dropping it off at the shop tomorrow, actually. New front end (Shrockworks) and new back end (CBI).

The tires I have on now are 285's. The front shocks are adjustable so I have to get it brought up another inch next week (i didnt have the right tools). That will make it a 3in lift so we'll see if that solve the problem.

Yea but now you are getting into reverse rake. Anything over .85 and you will have reverse rake unless you raise the rear. This is why I would never run 285's, it is just not worth it. The weight you added lone is not worth it. Now you are going to max out the shocks also, not a good idea.

I wish you the best fixing the rubbing. I would recommend doing it right and not just raising the front. Reverse rake looks so silly, be careful and gets advice on the forums.

The rear end is raised, you can't really tell in the picture but my rear end is noticeably higher right now. I'm bringing my front end up to 3" to level it out a little bit. The front is adjustable up to 3.5" so I won't quiet be maxing out the shocks. I'm not really a fan of the reverse rake look either nor do I know what the point of it is. I'm pretty new to this so I'm learning as I go.
Since I wasn't really specific in my first post this is what I did:
Replaced rear shocks and coils, upper and lower trailing arms/links whatever you want to call them, rear track bar, front shocks, and UCA's. and then I put on 285/70R17's

Sorry for the late reply, I've been in Italy for the last 10 days and that, I figured, is a really good excuse for not replying. With respect to pictures on the truck, I will post some most likely next week. The truck is at the AV shop as I write, getting a four camera (360 degree) system with monitor installed. As well, I'm having them put in headrest monitors and the CB. After the work (in the next two days), it goes back to the 4x4 shop (High Country 4x4 in Colorado) for the final touches, which are simply finishing up the PIAA lights wiring. From what they've told me, all other bits of work are complete: Shrockworks front bumper, with winch, and two PIAA light; CBI rear bumper (swing away); 1.25 inch wheel spacers; and some other goodies.

Update on my build: the A/V shop just finished the install of the 4 camera, 360-degree-view system w/dash mounted monitor; and the install of the headrest monitors (for the kiddos). They've delivered the truck back to High Country 4x4 so the 4x4 shop can finish the build (4 PIAA round lights at the front of the GOBI rack), and some minor detailing. I am supposed to have it back Thursday (today is Tuesday). When I have it, I will post the pics of the build which includes:

    1) ARB Snorkel
    2) ARB Rear Locker
    3) ARB Rear Differential Breather re-locate
    4) ARB Twin Compressor mounted in engine bay
    5) Shrockworks front bumper
    6) Warn 9.5 Winch w/synthetic line
    7) Two PIAA Lights on the bumper
    8) CBI Rear Swing Away w/full size spare and two gas cans
    9) Rigid lights in rear bumper
    10) GOBI Rack w/4 PIAA lights mounted at the front
    11) 3" Toytec Boss Coilover lift w/Heavy Duty Superflex rear coils
    12) Dobinson two drawer storage (that's one heavy box!)
    13) Rago rear windows (left and right) Molle panels
    14) 275/70/17 BFG K02s
    15) Custom mounted CO2
    16) Mounted fire extinguisher
    17) 4 camera/360 degree viewing system w/separate dash mounted monitor
    18) Dual headrest monitors
    19) 1.25" Spidertrax wheel spacers
    20) and...an oil change

    Already thinking of future additions:

    1) Magnusson supercharger
    2) 6" Fabtech lift
    3) 35x12.50 tires w/the lift

Zoom in in the frontal pics. You can see the back of the mounted monitor for the 360 degree, 4 camera system.
