What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Last weekend I installed a Dobinsons IMS kit with their tubular UCAs and got an alignment. Front coils are 302 and rear are 327. @Crikeymike set me up perfectly based on added weights of 180lbs. front and 220 lbs. rear. Before IMS install with all my added weight I was at 19.5" front and 21" rear from center of wheel to bottom of fender. After install and ~300 miles driven I am at 22.125" front and 24.5" rear. If the rear settles another half to full inch that'd be ideal. Big thanks Mike! As others have said the 4runner rides much tighter on the road. I can take curves at higher speeds and the body doesn't roll or lean as it did before. The nose dive is essentially gone and generally bumps are a bit smoother. My wife says the vehicle movement is less nauseous now. Before and then after pics below.

Roof storage: Eylar Equipment cases (similar to Pelican, 1/2 the cost). All are locked to basket with heavy-duty bicycle cables and padlocks. Boxes hold basic repair equipment, pretty extensive First Aid kit and recovery strap & shackles. Also, traction mats underneath. Bungees keep everything from sliding too much!

How did you attach the altimeter?

 

Put on those AJT black door lever covers. Expensive for what they are, but fit well and look good plus they eliminate the glare I get. Have a cover for the steering wheel emblem coming.

 

They said to use Monsanto 2-sided tape. I used JB Weld epoxy cement.

I've tried a couple of cell phone holders that didn't seem to work. This one seems real solid.

I had one of these on my Tacoma and NOBODY ever got anywhere near my bumper. I'm hoping it has the same effect on my 4Runner.

Note: it does not come with a hitch pin! You will need to buy one separately. It sure works better as deterrent than that bump-step that WeatherTech offers, plus...you can use it as an ACTUAL hitch!

I just plasti dipped the chrome trim piece on the front bumper. It came out perfect but then when I was removing the excess I ended up peeling a little on the trim too.
I am so pissed at myself, I ll get it wrapped and be done with it.

 

If your T4R has heated seats, how well does this work with the OEM heated seats?

 

The best thing about those seat covers: If you murder someone, you can easily hide all the blood stains! It's a serial killers dream interior.

I bought mine last month and everyone in Southern Cali are asking 4 to 5k over sticker. I got a hook up from a friend of a friend who got me to a fleet manager and "only" had to pay 1k over sticker. I thought this type of thing was only for stuff like Raptors etc but guess not

 

Had to get it….. went with the OEM front skid plate

 

Serendipitously I came across this underhood mount for the 5th generation 4Runner that fits the Morrflate air compressor (https://thorslightningairsystems.co...nt-5th-generation-toyota-4runner-2010-present). It appears the NAPA, Morrflate, and Thor air compressors, and others, are all the same (I guess) but at different prices. Nonetheless, Thor is the only one with a mount for the 5th generation 4Runner (I guess).

For the most part the install was simple. If anything, I spent more time laughing at how inadequate and inpatient I am when it comes to trying to be mechanic, and the lack of the correct tools and poor visual acuity with Walmart readers were not helpful. At one point, while in the engine compartment I had to tripod by placing my forehead on the air filter housing as my left shoulder was spasming from trying to secure the bottom bolt and I could barely reach despite the body contortion to stay balanced and secure the bolt. Nonetheless, done. WHEW!

Once again, my hat is off to those who do this as a career, much appreciated.

By the way, this air compressor is impressive. Now it takes 2-3 times longer to air down all four tires then it does to air up all four to the original pressure.

 

Increased my brightness and contrast in menu -> display for both rear view camera and general screen. The general settings were under the half mark which I thought was odd.

is there a mod to turn parking lights on with the drl setting on the stalk? So after mod it would go like

usually have my parking lights on when the sun is above the horizon, except when I'm in reverse

 

Weather permitted, the sun monster came back. Hitch assembly finally bone dry.
First coat of POR15 paint;
after por15 degreaser, por15 metal prep, wire wheel. Looks RAD

If anyone's in Canada I run virtually the same tow hitch, for the same reasons to keep ppl away lol - but bought it locally at Princess Auto (double the price in CAD before any sales).

 

Turn to position 3 (parking lights -dim above), and then turn the dial left of the steering wheel up past click to engage bright dash mode.

Edit: this doesn’t have DRL though…

 

The covers were installed over the stock black leather seats. My fingers hurt for about 2 days but worth it. I have clazzio seat covers in my fj and tundra also.

 

They work almost the same as normal. Just extra padding
