Thanks everyone for the good info. I got the Tacoma TRD coilovers from a 2022 Tacoma brand new, 4Runner specific 4600s for the rear and splurged a little and got the B12 springs for the back as well. I'm debating the spacers for the front. Is there a good brand to look at for spacers or a brand to stay away from? I've never used spacers in past on my Tacomas. I'm planning on only a 1/4" spacer. I don't need much if any at all. I'm really liking the stance of it now. Just need some new wheels and tires. Thanks.

Just remember don't use the rear Tacoma shocks. They won't handle the 4runner weight and you'll be bouncing too much. You can keep your current rear shocks. For the spacers just buy aluminum, any brand is goodit is just a peace of metal.

I used the Tacoma rear shocks for a couple of years and the ride and handling were fine. I did eventually go with the 4Runner-specific 4600s when I got a great Black Friday deal. Point is moot here as the OP stated he has the 4R 4600s.

Question... I just purchased a 16' SR5 Prem after selling my 19 TRD Sport Tacoma. I had the stock "Sport Coils" in my garage bc i put Dobinsons on the Tacoma. My question is: I bought 5100's for the Runner and would like to use the Tacoma springs since they had less than 5k on them vs Re-installing the 90k Runner springs. Using the 3rd Perch @ 1.75 and a 3/4 Spacer in the rear. Couldnt find a info on this.

    Thanks!

Should work just fine. No different than re-using your stock springs.

The Tacoma coils look "beefier"... so i was concerned. Thanks

So…. I’m getting close to doing this. Tacoma coils and 4Runner coils are the same and no matter which circ clip I put it on the the Tacoma coils and Runner coils should give me the same advertised lift?

From what I hear the bottom bushing on struts/shocks is not the same size. So bushings need changed. Other then that they should work.

Negative. This information ONLY applies to the rear shocks.

Front shocks/struts/whateveryouwannacallthem are the same between the 4th gen 4Runners and up and 2nd gen and up Tacomas.

I’m using correct new 5100’s for my 5th gen Runner with my 3rd gen Tacoma TRD Sport Coils on them. Should be the same… my rubber coils have 100k on them and my Tacomas only have 5k.

looks like this thread has been dead for about a year or so but i figured it take a shot to see if i get some help here.

i got a set of TRD Pro struts off of ebay. appear to be in great condition from a reputable seller.
but i only got the fronts. my 2008 4runner has 131k miles and is all on stock suspension.
ive upgraded to 33 inch tires already, i think those TRD struts paired with the wheels/tires will be a great combo up front.

as far as the rear goes. i think i need new shocks regardless. but i dont have any plans on what to do yet. all the lift i want added is the 2.25-2.5 inches that the struts will add to the front

so what should i do on the rear? i mean i really just need a simple new pair of shocks.
i dont tow, some very light light trail driving maybe twice a year.

is something as simple as the $45 each dualast shock from autozone sufficient? that is the first thing that shows up on their website when you look up shocks for my vehicle. plenty of great reviews

Use this coils for rear. The $45 shocks should be OK, but 4600 will be perfect for sure.

Coils are recommended to replace between 100-150k

When i replaced my suspension with the Dobinsons IMS, my rear coils were actually still fairly accurate in their height. I did a 1" rear lift, and after I installed the Dobinsons, i got pretty much a 1" lift which tells me the rear coils were still holding good. This was at like 240k miles.

My fronts, thats a different story, those mofo's were sagging like crazy. Not saying NOT to replace your rear coils, but i bet you could get a little more life out of them. Everyones situation is different... how much weight you regularly put on the rear, etc.

there will seldom be anything in the rear. maybe 180lbs of labradoodles occasionally. this rig takes me to the gym and back once a day, avg ill put 5 miles a day on it, and then take it fishing on the weekends

my main concern with replacing them, is that it currently sits exactly how i like it. and my new shocks may even add a smidge of height alone.
this vehicle has never been off road, never towed, or driven rough, or had anything heavy in it. i know the original owners. my plan is to skip the coils, and i will get an alignment about 500 miles into the new shocks and struts. if they find that its not perfectly level, ill add some on there

not sure what brands make a good coil that is just a design to replace the original. shopping online it feels like they all are designed to add lift

They'll add about 1.5 inches of lift. Fore reference, mine sits a 22-1/2" center to fender.
