Is there a way to deactivate the Seat Belt alarm/dinger?
Some other vehicles have this option.

With Dodge and other select vehicles you can silence the BEEP through a series of actions. Just wondering if there was a backdoor cheat code type solution for 4-Runners.
For example: 'Put on the seatbelt, turn the vehicle to ACC, disengage the seatbelt and then reengage, repeat the last step twice, press the brake then turn the vehicle off'. This is only an example and not the actual disabling sequence for anything.

I believe you can just by the buckle and plug it in?

There is no simple, reversible way other than using the Techstream software to turn it off. Even if you turn off the beeping, the light on the dash remains illuminated.

I'm OK with the dash light staying on. And the dinging eventually goes off but restarts every time you stop and start moving again.
I'm able to silence the dinger in my Dodge with a series of actions.

The way I did it and changed other features without techstream is to get a cheap Bluetooth obd interface on Amazon then use carista app to change the settings. Easy and cost me 20 bucks or less.

When we go off road we are usually hopping in and out of the truck to take photos. So I simply buckle the belt behind me, That shuts it up. - Ted

    Thanks Ted,
That's what I would do in my Jeep. With my Dodge trucks there is a way to silence the beep through a sequence of actions. Was really trying to see if there was a similar way with the 4-Runners.

Problem with sitting on it to silence the beep is that I found I was sitting on it even when I should have been using it.

I don't really sit on it so much as lean back against it. Indeed, I'll probably use the belt on many off roads. But not when we're in very scenic country, or have a chance to photograph some wild critters. Then I like to be out and in quickly. especially in grizzly country! - Ted

the easy way to do this go to the scrap yard find a toyota buckle . cut off the buckle set scrap yard buckle in seat belt hole all done... make a pattern so it is matching with the size pattern of the one on your vehicle.

It's a 'liability' for a dealer to disable the seat belt dinger........If you got a dealer to do this you were very lucky.

They say that but that's bullshit. Mine did it for me on two 4Runners... I gave them a list of the stuff I wanted adjusted via Techstream when I signed the papers, they went back and did them all, and that was that. If it was such a liability, it wouldn't be an option through Toyota.

There's no fuse that controls just the seat belt chime. Larry showed up and has been dropping some knowledge bombs on several threads. He's wrong about half the time and the other half of the time he's not right.
