Nice, we go to hawk mountain (2) at the Indiantown gap all the time.

I bought my 4runner and my old tacoma from freedom/Kelly toyota in hamburg.

Hard to say really as I did everything (lift kit, tires & wheels, cold air kit, and Pedal Commander) at the same time. It “feels” like it added a little something. It is definitely louder on hard acceleration.

Awesome idea! I will get that metal tubing too. But I need the filter to be enclosed. I am worried too much dust will get in it when going off road and in general.

What? An open air filter is a legit concern I would think…

I love the intake growl sound…much more than a rumbly exhaust. I’d get a CAI just for the sound, as silly as it might seem to some. But since I drive on a lot dusty conditions, the design would have to convince me I won't be overtaxing my filter.

Pumped air in to tires at Discount tire since my air compressor is broken. I guess Toyota sensors showing 3 psi less. Pumped 36 psi and Toyota sensors show its 33psi. Its the same psi on dash I took this from app as I forgot to take a pic after inflating and too lazy to go back to car.
    Screenshot_20221024_094009.jpg

Meantime I wonder what is the logic for low psi. 1 tire showing highlighted at 28 psi and same when its 29psi. Very strange logic imo.

Its an air filter. Only way it gets "over taxed" is if you dont replace it or in this case, clean it often enough. Yes, I've lived in Phoenix and now the 2nd most dusty part of the world 2nd to Dubai; West Texas. 10 Seconds of air pressure is all thats needed.

Start over. What may be "28" on one gauge could be "29 on another. One may round up 28.6 = 29. One may round down 28.4 = 28. What program are you using for the first image? Is it calibrated to that TPMS?

And you only traveled 7 miles between readings in 37 degree weather. They wont warm up for at least 15-20 miles at highway speeds to change psi.

This is the default Toyota phone app for remote start, lock & unlock etc. It simply shows the same thing as on dash. I mean after DT pumped 36psi my dash showed 33psi. Looks like its the same thing shows on the Toyota app.

Did you get a proper gauge and confirm what DT told you was true? I'm guessing no and guessing that when you had air added, it was 36 and the tires were warm. You then looked at the gauge later and it says 33.

Air inside the tires expands and contracts with heat. When your tires are cold in the morning, they are reading one temperature. Now go for a decent drive at highway speed and watch the pressures increase over the miles. Typically on most passenger 31-33" tires, the change could be as much as 4lbs per tire. If you are driving in snow or rice, the change has less potential.

Take a pic of your dash first thing in the morning. Drive to work. Take another pic when you arrive.

I haven’t had a chance to load it yet. With the winter weather coming, I’m not sure when I will get a chance to go camping. Will definitely post a pic when I do have it fully loaded with gear.

Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
I've found the 2020+ TPMS to be very accurate. I have an air gauge that's been ultra dependable for years, and it's always within half a PSI of what's reported on the dashboard. I think they only poll once every minute or so, but the readings will show eventually. If you had to drive to Discount Tire to get air then you didn't air up while the tires were cool. I try to air up for accuracy first thing in the morning. Of course, if you need air then you need air. I shoot for accuracy with cool tires. Is that right? I don't know.

So I just installed toyotec coils and now am lifted about 2.5 inches in the front and 2 inches in the back. How would I know if I need upper control arms?

I remember mentioning wanting to run open pods on a motorcycle forum…for a japanese sportbike even…Everybody laughed at me for liking intake growl…. While they ran fart cans on their bikes. I was a little confused.

I seriously dont get when people stopped liking throaty engine sound. They’ll put a loud exhaust on a V6, but induction sound is a bridge too far?

Is this an inside joke from a fast and furious movie? Is it like saying “vtec yo”?

Unless you guys are just laughing because I have a booger on my face or something.

I agree with you, love the sound of a CAI, i just would not run one that gets a majority of the air from the engine compartment. The whole idea of introducing colder air and all. People can argue about it all they want, but it's all shooters preference. I mean we all over spend on modifications to personalize a station wagon after all.

Yeah this was unplanned I just stopped by at DT after a school. There's no time to cool down as it is like drive through thing where as soon as you pull to the air fill area someone will come and put air immediately.

check it in the am before heading out. Compare the gauge vs. car/app.

my gauge is only 1/2 lb off from what the car/app says.

Just a FYI for those in California, if you buy a after market intake, hold on to your OEM intake, when you smog it in 5 years, it will not pass with a after market intake. Had this problem with my tundra, had to buy one triple what I sold the original one for. Install for smog and put your after market box back after.

Its a term, not a steadfast fact. Cold as in colder than if coming from a true carb intake on top of the engine. Cooler air (than the actual engine bay) does vent up from under the bumper/fender and that is roughly where they draw the air from.

And for the record, its the most expensive HP to $$ ratio you can buy... by far and I'm not a fan.
