Hey guys. I know some people were asking me to make an informative Suspension thread. I think it would be easier to do it this way. Post a pic of your set up, and some information. Follow my example. I will try to compile it into a good list.

What's your opinion on spacer lifts to at least get a start? @SixthSnail I don't have a ton of money for mods right now but I do take her off road quite often. We have a small rock area and deep ruts here that I seem to high center on or drag my skid plates. Just curious how you guys feel about a leveling kit instead of mid to long travel.

I personally hate spacer lifts. I think that in the end, you will regret it. I would say for very little money, to get adjustable bilstein 5100s and some coils for lift. You can use the stock coils on the fronts and crank them up to 2.5" and you can get a 1" lift in the back for like 150 on toytec. Then you will sit level, and be better off than a spacer lift.

Total cost would come to like 550 and you don't really need the rear lift if you just want to level it. You can set the fronts to like 1.5" and you'll be pretty level.

Here are the shocks you need. Look on wheelers and you can probably get a deal.

No problem. I ran that set up in my Tacoma. It is not anything compared to my set up now, but it's a cheap alternative. If you didn't go off road a lot right now, I'd say save up and buy the good stuff. You can get a fox setup with 2.5" coilovers, 2.0" rear shocks with resis and new springs for just over 1500 I think. That is a big hike from Billies though.

I agree with the 5100s over spacer lift. Improves the ride vs worsen

Agreed spacers are crap. You will spend almost half that on spacers and the alignment and not like it after two or three trips and then try to sell the spacer kit and get 50 bucks. I have the 6112's front and long travel 5100's in the rear amazing over my buddies taco with spacers. Check out my build and you'll see it. I spent about 2200 with tires.

My set up is Toytec 3" spring lift, bilstein 5100s and SPC UCA. Not sure if that qualifies as mid travel. I can post pics once uca's and shocks are installed.

Nice! How do you like the Trailing Arms? I'm looking to upgrade when I pay off my bumper.

I love them. Kind of that sleeper look. Give that added pop to the aesthetics when you realize they are there. Im very pleased.

Question, i'm starting to work on my Trail.

I have the front set up already, ICON's with the CDC vale and the Tubular UCA.

What do you all recommend for the rear..? I think I'll go with ICON as well, but how important or better yet, how much of a benefit will a Track Bar, Upper & Lower Rear Links be..? IS this a MUST have right away..?

So far i'm thinking of 2" springs mated with 56505 Shocks. Any problems with the O.E. break-lines like the Tacoma..?

The rear track bars are worth the money for tuning the rear end travel. Adjustability is key. I have my OEM brake lines and have flexed that rear end to its limits many a time and have had zero issues.

I'm in the same boat at the moment... trying to decide if I should install some used spacers I got for $35 since I spent a lot on new wheels and tires, and eventually get the 5100's. Or if I should just hold off altogether on the leveling kit until I have enough to purchase and install the Bilsteins. What did you end up going with?

Ah sorry. Well for the lower links then how do you like it? I am still learning my way around the T4R's suspension for the rear.

They work well. I think they would work better if I had the uppers to match but overall, the KDSS will be the limiting factor for my rear suspension. The extra strength is nice to have.

How much more droop do you think you could actually get if you removed the sway bars and KDSS system?
