I ordered a 3inch suspension stage two lift kit from Ironman 4x4 for my trail premium 4Runner. I unfortunately just purchased new tires before getting the lift. They are 265s, does anyone else have a 3in suspension lift with 265s? Just trying to figure out if it would look completely stupid or not. If you have photos that would be great!!

I considered getting a smaller lift, they offer a 2.5 front, however the rear doesn’t come in half sizes as I believe I need a 1.5 for the 4Runner to be level. They only have a 2inch in back. Is there a way to make that work and be level? The kit link is below

    That’s ironic,

I just had my lift removed along with set of barely used 285’s. Now I have the task of selling the 285 Nitto RG’s E Load.

My main concern was the long term effects on the drive train and suspension components. I went into it totally uninformed and unknowingly let the dealership install a spacer lift.

I was having problems off road with the rear shocks topping out due to the 2” lift in the back. And with the 3” lift in the front the UCA’s were contacting the coil springs during full droop. It was a ticking time bomb.

Having said that, there are apparently “right” ways to lift a 4Runner. The independent front suspension IFS is the limiting factor. It just wasn’t worth it for me personally to invest more time and money into it.

The most important upgrade is a really good set of AT tires if you plan on off roading.

    This link tells my story;

Is that a Ironman lift? I see you too are from NC as an I. Where did you get it installed at? I am supposed to get mine put on next week, but really having second thoughts about the setup I ordered. Yours looks really good, I think it will be ok with the 265s for now.

Due to my limited knowledge, then study think I know enough to order, at about which time I see that kit picked apart in a forum, or a new issue from a lift I never knew was possible unfortunately

I am in high point. I’m not oppose to driving there. I thought there was a 4x4 place near here maybe Lexington you can drive to an say I want this they say buy this and do it there not sure though. I think I may have made a mistake with what I bought and think I would have been better off going to a place like that and paying extra since I know so little about it. What’s the place you have?

Well it isn’t a place as much as a guy. The name of his business is:
    Queen City Overland Charlotte

He is the one who installed my suspension and winch.

Why do you think you made a mistake? You didn't say what Ironman kit you bought. I am running the Foam Cell Pro for the last 2+ years with almost 30K miles on mine and I love it. I have gone hard offroad hard with mine and I had one blown shock. Ironman replaced it no questions asked. Every kit has its ups and downs.

Looks like Ironman customer support recommended Ironman Nitro shocks when he was asking for Foamcell pro. Now Ironman not helping him to cancel the order and get Foamcell pro where many of us recommended. Ironman want to proceed with the shipment (which has not happen yet) and after he got the kit Ironman want him to pay return shipment and a restocking fee.

I apologize, I bought the nitro stage two. I told them it’s for my wife’s car she just simply wanted her vehicle higher and ride smooth bike off roading except for occasional driving on beachEd. He said based on our needs the nitro stage two was best.

I take most the blame I should have done more independent research instead of trying to just get her car lifted asap.

now just trying to decide to put it on hood for best. Or eat the money and send back

Just from some comments Iv heard and let read about that lift kit. Also some horror stories, last thing I want to do is spend that money and cause an issue with a perfectly good vehicle. That’s why I’m thinking I made a mistake

Not sure how many miles you have on it, but in my situation I drove mine right off the show room floor with the 3/2 spacer lift and didn’t test drive a 4R in stock (not lifted) form, so I didn’t have anything to compare to.

In my case, the ride hasn’t changed significantly, but the drivablity has improved. Something else I have noticed is that I don’t have as much of a blind spot in the rear view mirrors.

Not sure why, maybe with the mirrors sitting 3” lower I have a better field of view.

I was very interested with the Ironman Pro foam cell shocks until I called their customer service and was told they were designed for at least a 2” lift.

That’s interesting, more odd facts about the company we’ll call it. I regret not looking more into this and relying on suggestions. I should have spoke to someone with vast knowledge and experience before making a choice.
