Does anyone know if @Brother708, the OP who popped the cork on this miseryfest, ever got his Gobi rack? He hasn't posted for about a year...

It was delivered about three weeks ago, so as they said after I called them in April. Not happy with how this all turned out (16 weeks promised, 34 weeks actual) and I will not buy from them again, but the rack is good and it looks nice on the 4Runner.

Yeah, I understand. If I were to permanently mount gear on the rack, I'd do the same. But I need something where I can be flexible what I mount where, change stuff around, on the fly add/remove things etc. The mesh with ratchet straps and/or RokStraps works best for me since it is just the most flexible rack in this regard.

After a year and a month, I finally received my Gobi backpack.

if you're considering buying one from Gobi, I'd be willing to part with mine for the low low price of only $300.

Skip the year wait and get your backpack now!!

Yeah, I was wondering about that. Surprised that it takes this long but I imagine they only place an order for it when the rack is delivered to not have to cover folks canceling their order. I don't mind, I have too many backpacks anyways, but still.

So, is it at least worth the wait?

Their site says "20-24 weeks". That must be Gobi's extended new lead time bumped up from their "16 weeks" they had been using. I'm on week 39 now. But they billed me and I am waiting for the carrier call.

When I got the invoice with the companies name, it all started to make sense.

They do the back pack and hand bags because they are a sewing company.
Maybe its why the welding is so damn slow?

Agreed. It became my dedicated camping clothes bag. I can easily fit 3-4 days worth of clean clothes two towels and my toiletries bag with all my normal stuff in the main compartment front I keep an extra first aid kit in it and water bottle holders I keep one water bottle in one side and a tourniquet and two chest seals in the other.

Spoke with gobi yesterday. They claim mines going in production on the 8th. Claim they powder coat in house. So we will see. Likely to turn into the 8th of next month?

Since you are using the word 'claim', I'm guessing you're not too optimistic...?

They have been spot on with the dates given once mine was assigned to a welder. So, I’d say you should have your rack soon.

I ordered mine late Feb and got order confirmation early March. Hadn't heard from that at all until I called a few weeks ago. They told me it would be ready for shipment mid October. I called and spoke with Claudia today and she confirmed that it would be out by October 11th. I even had her email me that. I wasn't in a hurry, so I was okay with the wait time!

My rack is supposed to be delivered tomorrow (ordered 12/31/20). The freight company was having trouble contacting me, the number Gobi gave them had two digits transposed, lol. I am praying for no freight damage.

Are they delayed for everything? Or is it just for full racks? I have a Gobi but want to add some accessories (cross bars, sunroof cover, etc…) and I was wondering if there is a long wait for those as well…

an confirm. 8-10 weeks for one stupid cross bar. I’m halfway tempted to see if I can find someone to fabricate me one.
